should I trade my Z for m3?
I am debating either I should trade in my z and buy a new e92 m3 (bone stock) OR
drive Z (paid off) for a reliable DD, buy an EVO X and mode to enjoy my last years of 20's? According to my math, I'll spend about same money either way. To me, M3 looks very nice among almost all cars below $100k (new cars only) and Z looks much better than Evo but its got so much power potentials compared to Z as well as AWD. I am not currently considering trading Z for Evo. The only car I would consider give up my Z will be M3 or exige but I don't have a good Lotus dealership around my area. My last option would be supercharging Z to get a decent amount of HP (bolt-on+tuned 310 rwhp is not enough for me) and get a hyundai elentra for DD to save up some money. What would you do if it was in your situation? Again, I am not going to buy an used car even if it is slightly used. I've had two bad experiences before. To clarify 1. trade z for m3 2. current Z + EvoX tuned 3. get S/C for my Z and get a cheap DD My brain says #1 My heart says #2 and my boss, wife says #3 (which saves the most $$$) Last edited by sojirovskensi; 11-04-2011 at 12:23 AM. |

Secondly, what SC's are you looking at with only 310whp? You do realize the GTM Stage 2's already dyno'd over 500whp? Might wanna look into that option as well... IMO It's not really a fair to compare cars in different classes and knock either one... For 2-3x the price of a Z an M3 BETTER damn well be nicer, otherwise am I paying that 2-3x more for??

Made some changes in my wording, I guess my writing kinda confused you.
My z is not supercharged. If I do, I will just get GTM stage 1. The reason of my comparison was to find out which one sounds better for most people: One nice looking sports car and one fast awd car verses one higher class and faster in stock comparison Quote:

Is the M3 a great car? Yes... If you have the money why not? Is it as practical based on Mx costs... well, thats between you and your wallet. I just have a better feeling coming from a car that I buy and make my own, vs having the same car as every other person who pulls off the lot. But if being able to say you have reached the stability and status to afford to drive that beautiful machine, then go for it. You're the driver and in the end, it's your $$$ spent. Now AWD vs RWD, well that's a whole nother debate right there lol And if you have the money to buy an M3 by chance, why only stop at Stage 1 SC? In looking to get the Evo or M3, you're admitting you like more power. And the Stage 1 might not suit your appetite... just something to think about.

I wasnt knocking on either cars. Just because i think the M3 is a better car doesnt mean i think the Z or EVO sucks. I love both the EVO and Z. I would just rather have an M3 than a Z+EVO.

Personally I'd keep the Z and get an Evo. 2 fast cars always better than 1. This way you can tune both of them and if one breaks, you have the other one to drive while waiting for repairs. Not to mention you get to enjoy the driving experiences of rwd vs awd, 2 dr vs 4 dr, n/a vs turbocharged, manual gearbox vs double clutch automated( assuming you get the MR).
The M3 is a very nice car and it's a lot more luxurious and refined than the z. But it's not really as much of a step up in performance as some people make them out to be. You get marginal improvements in handling and acceleration, but that's it. And if you're hungry for more power and acceleration, keep in mind the M3 only has 414 hp and not much of an aftermarket to support it. This, coupled with high repair costs of german cars without a warranty may make you forever stuck with the stock performance of the M3.

Well, the reason I want to stick with SC stage 1 is more like reliability.
I know that GTM build quality is excellent and reliable but you never know for a long run yet. If the power limit is 100%, I would not push to 100% just in case. My preference is not too go far with NA car. Even if I do get an Evo, I would end up with small turbo upgrade to push out 450awhp. After driving my friend's R35 with 900awhp, I know that I will not use that much power nor do I need it. Somewhere between 400~450 whp sounds very sufficient for my appetite After writing this thread and reading other people's input, I AM debating my own-made car vs slower but better quality stock Quote:
