Question for the Mustang owner
Hi all,
I currently drives an Audi s4. I decided to use it as a daily driver. I was shopping between the z and a few other 2 door cars or a daily driver and use the s4 on weekends. I ended up with a dealership owned 2011 mustang convertible auto navigation with the RTR package w 5800 miles. I know nothing about the mustang, i tried to google specs for the 2011 mustang convertible and found out that the 0-60 is roughly 4.7 seconds for stick. There's seems to be no test for automatic, does anyone know if the auto is a lot slower? I have no idea what the RTR package does (performance wise), anyone know? I hope i didn't bump down performance wise compare to the 370z that i was looking into. Thanks in advance. |

Magazine number's should be taken with a grain of salt, although most would agree the 5.0's power and torque numbers are a significant amount more than the Z. I seriouslly doubt having the automatic will add any more than a tenth on the 0-60 time. It's kind of a meaningless stat anyways. More to for the sake of bragging rights. The real number you should be looking at is 1/4 mile time and trap speed.

Yeah don't put too much faith in 0-60 test numbers for any car.
As far as auto vs. 6MT... they are close and is largely dependent on gearing. With the Mustang GT you can get it with one of three different final drive ratios... 3.31, 3.55, or 3.73. Not sure if all of those options are available with the automatic or not, but I wouldn't worry about the auto being any slower than the manual. There are some very fast autos out there.

If not mistaken, there was actually a guy with a red auto convertible over on afm that posted either a 12.6 or a 12.7 stock, the auto tranny in the 5.0 is ridiculously fast.

Magazine 0-60 numbers are misleading because of the crappy tires/rims. The car should do 0-60 in the very low 4-second range with some decent rubber on it rather than that bicycle tire crap Ford puts on them. Hell, the 370Z has a rear tire of roughly the same width as the 3800# 550bhp Shelby GT500. Fail.

Sorry... I thought I'd bring something meaningful to this thread since it has to do with Mustangs and not Z's. I know, I know.... this is a section about other things... but please .... the title....
