toxik's 1996 300zx Twin Turbo: a worklog
Hey guys, so since I've sold my Z, I picked up a great daily driver for myself, a fully loaded BMW 328i coupe. Unfortunately, the hunger for modding and having a sports car didn't go away, and I needed something to help my fix. After checking out Jeffblue's 300zx TT, I thought it might be a good direction for a project car. After spending a few months looking for S14's and 300zx's, I accidentally stumbled upon a rare find. A few blocks away from my house I noticed an abandoned 300zx TT that was living on the street with no plates or anything. One day as I was looking at it (showing my girlfriend what T-Tops are) an older gentlemen came up to me and told me that its his son's car, I asked him for the number. Fast forward 2 months later, I made a deal and picked up the car. Had this baby for about 2 weeks now. I have big plans for the car, but luckily because its jsut a weekend car for me, I'm not worried about the timing of them. I want to outline all of them here, just to keep a good worklog for myself if no one else cares lol.
Some info on the car: It's a black on black fully loaded 300zx from 1996, the last year they made them. The car is completely stock, originally from MA, only had 2 owners. It's the twin turbo model with 5MT transmission. It even has a "Nissan Phone" in the dash, which I thought is cool. The car only had 66,000 original miles put on it since 1996, and it runs strong. Due to it living on the street for a little over a year, a bunch of people backed into the front nose and the front bumper is pretty much gone, the car hasn't been washed in a year and I plan on detailing it before winter, but for now I just let it sit as is. Here are the pictures: Upon the first drive in the car after it was registered, we ran into a few issues. The Clutch Slave cylinder gave out and all the clutch fluid spilled out. Thank god I was with my friend Jeff, Jeffblue, and he was able to drive the car back to my house with no clutch... which wasnt fun as you can imagine. Ordered some first parts for the car, a new OEM clutch slave cylinder, a 1 piece SS line that goes straight from Master cylinder to the slave cylinder, eliminating unnecessary hoses in between. Also picked up a JWT pop charger to replace the old disgusting airbox. It was nice weather this weekend, so I met a buddy of mine with a modded 90 300zx TT and we took the t-tops off and went cruising, good times: More to come! Thanks for reading, |

Nice find! I miss mine Watch out for that jacking point. Fender bolts all the way down to the rail and if the jack is not placed properly the fender pops out.. very common on Z32s, lift it from the front or from right underneath the doors.
