New Daily Driver Needed

Its getting to be that time of year where the Z has to hibernate for the winter. When that happens I'll be back to driving my 09 Maxima but I'm getting quite board with it. I want to get a car that is fun to drive but can also act as a daily driver. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should trade it in on?
The car needs to have/do/be the following things:
- four doors (the Z acts as the fun two door and I don't think my wife would let me get another one)
- Driveable in snow
- Manual transmission
- New or used
- Under $40K
- Needs fit my 6'6" body
- Needs to be fun to drive

If you have any suggestions let me know.

That's what I was thinking but I took a look at the STI and I didn't really fit. IMO the Evo looks a little cheap. Both good choices but I don't think they're right for me.

Legacy GT or G8 perhaps?

Legacy.

WRX/sti, 335xi, g8

Haven't thought too much about the Legacy. It is slower than the Maxima but it is all wheel drive.

G8 is something that I should look into more. Would a GXP be a little insane during the winter?

I looked at a 335xi on Friday. I liked it a lot. The manual transmission was great and the car was fun to drive.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

I've got the mits Lancer Earliest but evo sounds like a good fit. What about an Infiniti ex wagon? It's got the 3.5 powertrain. Or the g awd sedan

speed3? however fwd = suck so i don't know

KUSH 10-23-2011 04:32 PM

whoa,, how'd you fit in the z and not in the sti? haha

G8 would be such a stupid winter car, winter car means its more capable then your Z in the winter not worse or the same. I would look into a 335X but its gonna be hard to find a used one with a 6spd. I know you said no on the STI and EVO but both or good choices. You could also check out S4, RS4, or just a A4 with a stick.

Agreed

The steering wheel sits high enough and the sit sits low enough on the Z to make it driveable for me. While I do fit its not a DD. In the STI my legs were wrapped around the steering wheel like I was riding a horse. I could drive it but I wouldn't like it for 12K mile a year.

That's what I was thinking. Believe it or not there are two 335xi in a manual in Columbus right now. I think I'll take a look at the A,RS, or S4 this week.

swap the seats with some bride low max seats and that would help in the sti lol

MazdaSpeed6? It's AWD and you could probably find an 06-07 for dirt cheap (with 40-50k miles)? I previously owned a speed6 and can say its more of a luxury evo/sti =D

Took mine on snowboarding trips fully bolted all the way to NYC and back, ran pirelli snowsports in the winter and there was no stopping that car!

May I suggest a bicyle? Gas free, throw in some springs on it, fun to ride !
