Default First Details of 2013 GT-R emerge

This past week at the Nurburging Nissan held a European Press Event to debut the MY2012 ( 2013 US spec) GT-R

Just 1 year after the comprehensive updates of the DBA-R35 the GTR continues its evolution. Details from the event are still being gathered and we will keep you posted/ amend them as needed. but here is what is currently know:

- the 2013 GTR will feature once again a substantial gain in HP on par with the current increase from last years model. The final number will be announced at the cars launch but it was shown at the event to be atleast 40 so expect 570+ HP

- Visually the 2013 remains with no additional color options

- Suspension and Transmission logic has been tweaked

- Under body has been changed to improve aero and cooling

- Co2 emissions have once again been lowered

- Premium Black Edition and Egoist will be offered worldwide

- In addition to these models a "Track Edition" will be available as RHD only
this GTR is the one we reported on earlier this week with carbon parts inspired by Nissan Test Driver Toshio Suzuki GTR tuning brand "Nordring " also features Dunlop Race slicks aswell as Volk Racing wheels....

Why do you think Nissan doesn't put as much attention towards the 370z? Nissan sells a lot more z than gtr. More people have heard of a z than gtr. Why does Nissan continue to spend more money trying to tweak the gtr?

wow.

(I wish/hope Nissan puts this kind of effort into the next gen Z, obviously they're not putting ANY effort into the current one.).

It is the top of the brand, also I imagine a lot of these changes are in line with the whole R35 plan.

GTR is their Halo car, and it's bragging rigths vs. Porcshe, Ferrari etc, (mainly Porcshe.

all that technology and engineering will trickle down to the Z hopefully. but expect the price of the Z to increase with it.

I know Nissan knows what they're doing but I can't help wonder why they don't spend the money, research, and time tweaking the z. Honestly how will they sell more altima and z by saying they added more HP to the gtr. Improving the z would sell more altima because not many people know what a gtr is. I guess they do all of this is to soothe nissans ego.

oh and one more bit of info i forgot

nissan was at the ring all this week testing and had an official timed run scheduled for friday... as most of you know the 2012...did a 7:24 but it wasnt official it was more of a shakedown run... before they could attempt an all out timed run it rained it out

so the one friday was postponed until sometime in october... details are a bit muddled but what i take from it was...because the spec tire they were testing was not the exact OEM production version that would go on the car... the GTR director refused to post a time unless it was the exact car the customer could buy

yeah thats what it seems.... only JDM and EURO spec

this is a track car...no back seats.. racing buckets and slicks...

those wheels by the way seem to be a varient of the VOlk G12s

and besides speaking of afford those carbon parts are insanely expensive... currently they are already offered from nordring and the wing alone is $11K

nissan is debuting a Spec-R at the motor show... im assuming this is it but am not 100%

Because the Z doesn't sell enough to make it worthwhile for Nissan. They planned for sales of 30k units a year, it sells 10k. As a mid-range sports car it's just not a worthwhile investment, whereas you have the GT-R, a halo car competing against the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, etc., that is going to keep Nissan's name in the news and elevate the brand as a whole.

Yes, it might not sell as many units as the Z, but it has a bigger impact from a marketing perspective.

Oh, and I would be surprised if the GT-R only received 570 hp. I'm guessing 600+ will be more like it.

Ah, gotcha. I'm just waiting for the day Nissan says "f*ck it, we're tired of trapping slower than everyone else in the 1/4, so the 201X GT-R will have 675hp!"
