i'm thinking about going with a staggered setup and just adjusting suspension to compensate. I feel like i need more tire out back...but I'm worried about messing up the balance.

That would be pretty easy. You could run a bigger bar and/or spec some stiffer rear springs.

I agree though that if you are really concerned with putting the power down some wider rear wheels and tires would help.

It would. What tire sizes out back are you thinking?

Given the stock balance of the car I think you have some wiggle room in terms of how much stagger you can run without dialing in too much understeer.

Sam Strano runs a square setup but with his spring and damper package he likes to take the rear bar down a bit to dial out some of the oversteer. My guess is a car on Konis, any Steeda spring package, and conservative front camber could remain fairly neutral even with 40mm of total stagger or so. Which to me would mean 275 front and 285-305 rear.

i need more time with the car to figure out what I need. I'm thinking 275 fronts, then whatever I need out back. Gonna do dampers first, and see how the balance is then. I think the weak rear dampers mean the car will be kinda prone to oversteer once new dampers are on...

if I'm being honest, I think the car needs a bit more rear grip even from the factory, at least with my skill/attention level. I notice it's not tough to get the *** out with just a light lift, which I am often not prepared for since it rides so smooth all the time....I think a slightly reduced rear slip angle would be pretty helpful...

You're right about the dampers. That's why Sam takes the rear bar down.

Regarding the oversteer with lift... welcome to Mustang. That's something that is just going to be there regardless of what you do with the car. You can tone it down, but you're better off not lifting.

I mean, I know that...it's just even with a partial lift, it steps out a bit more than I feel is safe for the street.

I drove my aunt's 07 for a while when I was in fl, and you had to completely lift before it would step out...the balance on this one makes it a little quicker to go.

I had an experience where traffic stopped suddenly on an offramp, and things got a little scary. thought i was back in an ap1

To be honest, I think you're being a bit of a pussy. Safe on the street? Puhleeze. Slow down if you can't handle it.



And if the rear steps out, just compensate with steering. Simple!

Dan I suggest you get some 225 fronts and 305 rears and disconnect the rear bar. Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

i did. no problems were had. maybe I just need to get used to the idea of the rear being able to step out again...I've been driving a Z and a subaru
