So does the power advantage of the mustang out weigh the looks advantage of the Z?

As for what advantages outweigh what, that is also subjective. The biggest reason why I don't have a Mustang in my driveway is that I had already bought a Z, so a trade makes no financial sense. The second biggest reason is that I'm happy with my Z. But I respect the Mustang. |

As for the mufflers, I agree the quality of that gt500 muffler I got was no where like my invidias. But that's easily remedied by the myriad of MANY MANY other aftermarket exhausts available. I got mine for sound and cost. Quote:

But tell u what it was NOT just the power that won me over. It was superior to the z regarding transmission (since I've owned a z, I feel I am qualified to make this statement). The z transmission is too loose, rattly, and grinding in ways that make me cringe. It was also embarassing to my wife, friends, and other passengers and passersby who all ask "what's that sound". Then i have to say oh that falling apart sound? That's normal." The stang is just not like that. It's how its SUPPOSED to feel. Add to that the 5.0s engine smoothness all the way to redline. No vibration no ear grating sound. The 5.0 makes me want to actually take it to redline all the time. Quote:

only way I went through with this is because my trade value was MORE than what i paid for my z a year ago I reeeeeally got a good deal last year on my z. plus I got my new one for under invoice too. Hehe. Wife would have never let me do this if it weren't for that. For all of u others that feel so strongly against the 5.0, I totally understand that. If u don't dig it, that's ok. looks are subjective, But what i do ask is before u pass judgements on concrete things like how it drives or feels or the quality, have an open mind. Sit in one, feel it, drive it. If u still feel like its "Crap", then fine. But tell u what that's exactly how i felt initially, but Ford made me a believer. I have LOVED nissans infinities all my life. I still do. It's just that now i love Ford too. Lol

Shado btw thanks for the pm. I totally understand. We are all car guys in the end. I love all cars, just some more than others I was one of the lucky few who got a chance to own, drive, and enjoy a Z, an iconic sportscar. I enjoyed it immensely despite its quirkiness. But now i am looking forward to my new tenure with the upcoming beast. Hehe.

Alchemy is already a self-admitted hater, so we can only take his opinions with a grain of salt. Of course he's going to think everything about the Mustang is crap; he hates them with every last drop of blood in his body. Can't change a closed mind.

The mustang look is a bit of an acquired taste. It's unique for sure. It is definitely a different style than I've been into in the past.
Saying the interior is terrible is really looking with blinders on though. It's definitely uniquely styled, but the quality is pretty solid. |

One of the things that I prefer about the 370Z's styling over the Mustang is that it is more distinct.
Now, please understand that I'm placing this in the context of aesthetic design, so I'm not saying, "dur hur exclusivity" or "the mustang isn't fast". Those are not where I'm going with this. But when I see a 370 from a distance, I think it's either a 350-370, or it's a Porsche, maybe a Vette, but that's pretty much it. It's a sleek, low-slung two seater, and that's the design that I love. When I see a Mustang from a distance, it does not stick out as much to me. I do see many more of them on the road, so the design has aged more quickly to me. Also, they are a larger four seat coupe. There are a lot of large, four seat coupes that have roughly the same body size, including Camaros, Accords, and most other coupes on the road. So, in my view, the Mustang is less distinct and maybe less daring than the 370's design. The 370 looks like a budget exotic. The Ford is American Muscle. It's more about how it runs on a track than what it looks like in a showroom. |

My biggest knock on the Mustang is that due to the V6, there are way too many out there. I can go weeks without seeing another 370Z but the mustang (even the latest body style) sometimes I can't go a block without seeing one. So if I were to go down that road it would need to be a special edition like the boss or Shelby.

Totally worth it. Installation is easy. Just take your time and read the instructions.
