the forged powdered-metal connecting rods are totally fine in NA applications, i dont think anyone is spinning more than 7500

Not sure how safe 7,500 is. I wouldn't feel comfortable spending a lot of time up there. My limiter was bumped up to 7,300.

Mine is currently set to 7800 with my UpRev. I know some people set it to 8000.

Just curious what is "safe"...seen guys at 7750 on regular 5.0s that seem to work....then again, I revved a stroked f20 to 11k hundreds of times with no issues, other guys blow em up with one rev to 9500.... I guess the 7300 limit you run sounds like a good compromise. Plus if your engine blows up, I can lower mind. ![]() |

Yeah, it did. With the Steeda intake (and any other brand intake) that flows significantly more air than stock you really gain a lot of power up top. The car pulls hard to redline.

^^^ This (and the stock rev limiter kicks in around 6850).
Intake + tune and she pulls like a motherf*cker to [insert new redline here].

Do you think its made a significant or worthwhile difference? I only want to do it if it makes a difference and is relatively safe. If I do have it raised, I won't even go that high very often. Just when I'm at the drag strip or doing some spirited driving.

Nah, datalog shows pulled timing. The bama guys confirmed that's how the stock limiter works.
The z was similar, pulled earlier, but less aggressively. My z pulled timing about 7100 rpms. A lot of the peak tune gains on both cars are from going to a hard limiter Edit: replying to gz3 Last edited by Red__Zed; 09-20-2011 at 05:21 PM. |

Tuning your car is never relatively safe.
