Ah man, this thread made my day, always fun to get a laugh in at work on an otherwise shitteh day.

In my boredom, figured i'd share a story with my Z to 5.0 brethren.

As you all know, or dont, I'm in the Army and got stationed in Germany (be here for the next 3 years wooo.)

I'm currently living in a small city of about 80,000.

One thing i've learned since moving here: German drivers are Assholes with a capital A, theres no ifs, ands, ors, or buts about it. As i'm sure most of you know, the Mustang is not sold here as a part of the ford lineup. So us Amerikaners tend to stand out a bit.

Anywho, My house/work is directly off the A6 Autobahn, one of the main arteries through the country. The speed limit on the off ramp begins at 130k or just a little over 80mph, then quickly changes into a no speed limit zone, and lemme tell you, its a fvcking blast. I havent really had the chance to stretch her legs yet because i'm rolling on the Pzero Neros and i'm not willing to chance the speed ratings on these things, last thing I need is a 140mph blowout.

So, as it stands, the Mustang has in a way, achieved legendary status here, I cant drive anywhere without people breaking their necks to see where all that noise is coming from and gawking at the silver bullet. This also comes with a few problems, them same dickhead drivers always, ALWAYS, seem to want a piece, and to be honest, I could really give a shyt, I wont be goaded into a street race. However, anything in the no speed zone is fair game and i've had a few awesome encounters.

The other day, driving back from the BX on Ramstein Airbase I managed to come across one of these said Assholes. The law in Germany states that the off ramp merging traffic must yield to traffic currently on the highway, and believe me, they thoroughly practice pacing and speeding up just to make life a bit more difficult for you. Once such cool guy had apparently not read up on the 5.0.

Its about 7 at night, merging onto a 3 lane, when I'm about to merge. I look in my side mirror to see a black BMW rapidly accelerating to pace me so as to not allow me to merge. So of course, I accept this as a challenge, drop into 3rd and easily, EASILY, pull 4 cars on this guy and merge successfully. So I begin to slow down because at this point i'm already doing 120. So here I am, minding my own business when this same dbag pulls up to my left and starts pacing me again and out of nowhere, downshifts and takes off, so of course, I oblige and once again i'm reeling him in and eventually pull a few on him yet again. It isnt until then that I realize that this guy is in a 335i. A new one. Now call me crazy, but isnt everyone talking shyt about how fast those are? for as fast as they should be, I shat on him in both of his attempts.

In other news, theres a guy in my unit with a new M3, track equipped. Wants to do a run at the ring, as well as someone with a new STI. Obviously i'm not going to attempt either in stock form, but i've already got 3 races at the ring lined up for April, plenty time to get my Steeda track pack and Nitto NT01's installed. God I love this land.

Sounds likely to me.
You are totes jelly. It doesn't make sense but it happens. Example:

350Z with bolt ons sees a Mustang up ahead. "Ooh I can totally smoke a 4.6L!, I'm gonna catch up to this guy... oh wait... 5.0... i'm skurred."

Thought about it...the 5.0 starts a lot of conversations with older car guys that have kinda "checked out" of the scene since the 90s...I've been having fun meeting people

Alabama highways are just like the fast and the furious movies...passing is like an insult and an invitation to race
Same here. Like the Z, the new 5.0s are a good conversation starter. I have actually met a lot of nice Veterans with the Z. They'd always say something about how it reminds me of their first car when they got back from the war.

Nobody in a Vette is scared of that 5.0 badge. Neither is anyone in a decent Porsche.
C5 Vettes are skurred. We are about even with a C6 non Z06, if not a tad bit quicker.

Stock for stock something like an Evo or an Sti is not that fast, but they have gobs of potential. You never really know if you're going to come across a stupid fast one or just a normal one.

I no jelly. I've just never had that thought process. "hmm, I'm gonna pass this guy, oh sh-- he could be supercharged." Never occurs to me. If it makes you feel smooth, then by all means, feel that way.

I want to see the base C6 beaten by a stock Mustang GT. Would love to see that vid.

That's because you're a very passive person. You never act as an aggressor on the street towards other drivers. Instead you are polite and proper. You enjoy spirited drives, but not in illegal competition. You, sir, are a gentleman.

Stock vs. Stock is a drivers race, son.
