Magnaflow muffler deletes... less than $300, Pypes also makes a set for less than $250 on americanmuscle. Cold start will wake the neighbors, tame at idle (you can turn the idle up with the SCT tuner), melts faces at full throttle. BTW, get the tune man, the TQ gain down low and the mid to high range hp are ludicrous. According to Chris Young at AM, the JLT/Airrade provide the biggest gains of all the CAI's. I was at my current HP level with just the intake/h-pipe, decided not to go with an x because they are MEGA raspy, moreso than my Stillen/Berk combo on my Z.

If you ask me all the American manufacturers are just throwing ridiculous amounts of power into mediocre cars to get people to buy them. The whole retro styling needs to stop, EVERY company does it and its boring. Create something new and fresh please! Seriously are Americans so uncreative all we can do is a new take on an old design!! Plus I dont think Ive ever seen an appealing American cockpit. Straight line speed is boring, well not boring but def not as fun as rippin twisties. I do give the Stang a tad bit of cred since it looks like it can finally make a turn. M4a1mustang did it some justice in those dragon vids I guess big hp is fun and getting 30-40 whp off of an intake and tune is facking phenominal!! Being the guy that has the same car as 23 other guys in the parking lot isnt. IMO. How do you think the Japanese are killing cars off??? I feel the Z is a tremendous car at a pretty damn good price. I do feel like it could have come w a tad more power but whatever. I dont think its Japans fault that stupid Americans dont buy their cars. To me the Z imparts a sense of pride and individualism an American car at the same price point and even higher cant offer.

Lol alchemy, tell us how you really feel

Looks like pu hit most of the major points... The mustang handles really well. Obviously the vette, etc does as well.

I am not really bothered by having a relatively common car...on the other hand, I see way more 370z's than 5.0s...and nearly as many 350s as 05-09 mustangs....jus sayin.

I say Japanese manufacturers are killing of their production of sports cars because... Well, they are. You can't really argue with that. The s2000, supra, mr2....etc....all gone. Even the evo is dead. The z is likely done...what're you gonna buy in the 30k price range now? The ft86 with 200hp? Maybe a scion tc?

Maybe a Subaru WRX?

No, only homos with maglites buy those

But largely I agree. Even the RX-8 has been hanging on despite crummy sales. Japanese cars in general are not selling as well anymore, and I think the reason why is Hyundai/Kia.

I used to be turned off to the American makes but:

1) I actually like the styling of the Mustang

2) It outperforms my 370Z in absolutely every way possible.

3) As far as driving a car no one else has... I guess that's a personal thing. Personally I feel like if you are concerned with being "unique" there are some other issues that probably need to be addressed... in your head... ya know?

There is a reason the Mustang is wildly popular. It's a successful formula that's been around before the Z. It's a part of Americana.

Bottom line is we all have choices. You want a Z? Get a Z. You want a Mustang? Get a Mustang. This is America, god damnit, and we can do whatever the **** we want!

The only thing I dislike is fanboy hatred. I am a car guy first and a Mustang/Z fan second. I don't hate on cars because that's just lame.

Yep, around here I see more 370s than I do 5.0s. Granted I see a lot of V6 models, but those aren't 5.0s.

And 350s are among the most popular type of car around here. I see more of those than I do Mustangs.

I agree with you on the Japanese killing the sports cars. Nissan is one of the few Japanese manufacturers left that's putting anything out that resembles a sports car.

Honda and Toyota both threw in the towel years ago. Nissan pushed on with the Z, but selling 10,000 units a year (when you approved the project based on sales of 30,000/year) and losing money on the deal is not likely to get the bean counters at Nissan HQ to approve another model.

It sucks, but it is what it is. The Z is a nice car, but in this environment it's difficult for a $30-45k 2 seater to thrive.

Subaru is seriously considering killing the wrx. Even if it doesn't get killed, it will stagnate excessively since there is no longer any competition. Besides, it's not rwd, which kinda kills it as a "true" sports car

I think it's more than just that. I think for the last 5 years or so the Japanese have been resting on their laurels.

At one point they were so far ahead of the American and Korean makes in terms of quality and value in the "cars for normal people" space.

But in that time you've had Ford come out of no where and offer incredible value and quality in all of its cars, beating most of the Japanese makes in all of the media comparisons. Hyundai has been doing the same and they are standing behind their product offering impressive warranties and cars that people really want to drive. Kia is peeking it's head into the game as well offering some pretty nice product.

Meanwhile, you've got Honda and Toyota still offering the same boring Civic/Accord/Corolla/Camry that they have for years. At one point they were the best but not any more. You get way more value and equal or better quality with a Ford/Hyundai or even some GM cars these days.

Great for the consumer.

The only Japanese standout for me is Nissan. They're far more exciting than Honda/Toyota and have done a much better job of improving with the times, IMO. But even they are not impervious to this market, and you can tell from their talk out of corporate that they are trying to push for a more "eco friendly" oriented line. A car like the Z doesn't make sense for them anymore, unless it's reborn as a weak "every man's electric sports car."

It is cyclical. Honda/toyota made shitty cars, then had to overreach to make their name. Once it was made, they rested on it...allowing the competition to catch up...

...sound familiar?

Nissan didn't build up their name quite as well as Honda did in the past, and so they're having to work now to get on that level.

I just hope Honda and Toyota wake up before they get to the point the American manufacturers had been.
