Could you support that with hard evidence, though? Everything I read points to what I explained earlier. I would like to know the hard truth either way.

I've seen pics of the board, appears to have an extra register for that purpose. 32 bit, too, so not really practical to roll it over.
Pretty trivial to track. I don't like the odds. Most of the guys telling you it's not there are either noobs to hardware, or tuners. I wouldn't trust either. |

Well, whatever the case I guess it doesn't matter to me since I've already taken the step to get tuned.
I reflashed the car with the 89 Street tune. Runs well. No high RPM ping, just smooth and strong. I think I'll stick with it. Did uncover some new problems, though: Brakes. As I was pulling out of my neighborhood and let off the throttle to cruise, I could hear a low metallic grind that would pulse with each rotation of the tires. Sounded like a pad lightly grinding against the rotor. Sure enough when I checked the rotors they were quite worn... much more than the last I checked. Both front and rear. This car is heavier than the Z with more aggressive pads, so it's probably not a surprise for this to happen at 25k given how I drive... In any case, I'm in the market for new rotors and pads now. I think I'm just going to stick with blanks.

I just PM'd a vendor on a 370Z forum for a price quote on parts for a Mustang.

However, given the new TSB, isn't Ford all anti mods of any sort now? What's annoying is that, I talked to my dealer, and I asked them if they would warranty any work having to do with the transmission (say, there's grinding of gears, etc) if I had an aftermarket shifter installed? Now I KNOW the shifter has absolutely NOTHING to do with transmission issues... but according to them, they said even if they (dealer) is okay with it, but if they have to go through Ford corporate to approve the warranty, Ford themselves may give me grief and ultimately refuse warranty to me just because I have that shifter. Complete BS, I know.... but still, now I'm all worried about getting my shifter He did state that I could always put the stock shifter back on there, which is fine.... but still, just a pain in the a$$.

Btw, I did verify with them that my GT500 mufflers are covered because they are Ford Racing parts... go figure.

That's the same way with any dealership or manufacturer, though. If I took my 370Z into NISSAN with transmission problems, they'd probably not want to do warranty work on it because of my shifter.
It is what it is. I say if you are worried about it, avoid a tune. The car doesn't really need much more power anyway. I wouldn't worry about a shifter or exhaust or anything like that, though. You could easily swap it back to stock if needed. Chances are you won't even have to worry about it, though. I'm about to open my diff for a fluid change... I'm sure if the diff blew and they knew I opened it up they could give me trouble if they wanted... but whatever. Nissan could do the same thing.

But yeah, I wasn't planning on a tune anyways, so no worries there. But yeah that shifter I think is a safe bet. I'll just swap back to stock if needed, if at all.

That is one of the very few things I don't like about the GT-R. They can log all that data and use it against you for warranty purposes. Apparently all (or at least major) GT-R related warranties are handled by Nissan Engineers and not the dealers themselves.

You really can't blame them. If you made a product I don't think you'd be too happy about fixing them under warranty if your customers were modifying them...

I don't blame them, I understand where they're coming from. It just makes me think twice about modding it if I do get one. Might just stick with bolt-ons. From what I've read tunes are only an issue if you up the boost, which they can see.

The only thing that is really trouble-free on any car is a CBE.
