If you get the 5.0, you gotta get the brembo package. At that point it makes sense to look at the boss, and then maybe even the gt500. Of course then you are in corvette territory, and the climb starts up that ladder until you get to z06/GTR territory.

Then you start looking at used Lambos and Ferraris, then new ones... then eventually you just settle for a Veyron. :bowrofl:

Exactly my thoughts? You could apply pricey logic going upwards from a Chevy Aveo...and end up with a Veyron. Lol.

Dan, Steve... question on our 5.0's. Do they come with oil coolers? And if not, are they needed? My guess with all that oil (aren't we 7 qts?) not needed, esp if not tracked? Just wondering if I'll see 235 plus temps again in normal daily driving..... :shakes head:

Don't forget, those front fender vents help the motor run 30* cooler :stirthepot:

Modshack says not needed...and I haven't heard of anyone needing to install one. The car can definitely handle 25+ minutes track sessions without getting too far up there in temps. I think the one thread I saw they were seeing close to 250 after 25 minutes out...

No oil cooler. The engine takes 8 quarts.

So far no need for an oil cooler from what I've experienced and read.

One of the biggest things you'll like is that even when it's hot as **** outside and you have the AC blasting, the car never feels like it's struggling...

Great to know Red... another thing I can rest more easy about.

whoa... 8 qts. Holy $hit. That means I need to buy NINE qts of oil every oil change. Damn. When I get it in December, I won't be driving her, so she'll sit till spring, probably with 100 miles or less lol... then I will have to change the oil. LOL. So with Amsoil, that will be around 100 bucks a change. Damn.

What oil do you guys like to run?

And since I'm on topic of oil... any issues you've experienced or read regarding the dreaded oil consumption??? I hope it's nothing like folks (and myself) have seen on the VQ's.

I run Pennzoil Platinum. I used to run Redline in the 370 but don't need anything like that anymore.

I haven't had any oil consumption issues, but I have read of some. As with any car, check your levels regularly.

Red__Zed 09-23-2011 03:19 PM

Yeah, pretty much same. Every manufacturer cranks out some engines that consume oil-- just watch for it.

Yep I always do check. I was just wondering if severe consumption like we saw in VQ's (as in TSB type consumption) has been seen on the 5.0's.

And regarding oil I still plan to run Amsoil in it. That stuff rocks.

Red__Zed 09-23-2011 03:22 PM

I still haven't figured out what I wanna run in the stang

m4a1mustang 09-23-2011 03:24 PM

Pennzoil Platinum gets my vote, it's good stuff.

Alchemy 09-23-2011 04:05 PM

If I had a Mustang Id put Wolfs Head in it :roflpuke2:

FromG2Z 09-23-2011 04:23 PM

Steve, Dan... your thoughts on the stock shift knob? From my test drive, it seemed fine and fit good! Any need to replace? How about the air intake? Any need in your mind to upgrade, like the Stillen G3's were with our Z's?

FromG2Z 09-23-2011 04:29 PM

Also before I forget... another topic... EXHAUST. What you guys prefer? So far, I am LOVING the Flowmasters above all.
