Well since the Z is making all its power up high I dont mind being able to rev it a bit more. I kinda wish I went to 8k so I had more but I hit my limiter kinda often so I suppose its a bit safer, for me, to have it at 7800. I dont personally see a prob w it set that high and I have yet to hear anyone mention it being a problem either. All in all I dont think it makes much difference but its nice to be able to take it there if you want to, just personal preference I suppose. You wont regret gettin the UpRev though, its AWESOME.

I would raise your limiter based on where your car makes power. I make peak power at 7800rpm and it holds flat till 8100 so thats where I set it, I also have 4.08's so the extra rpm's can be useful.

Thanks guys! Looks like I'll have to wait till my car is on the dyno getting tuned to figure out what to do with the limiter.

I think you will wanna be at 8k. Like I said I wish I went that high. The car is making all its power way up there so it only makes sense. Getting it dyno'd was so much fun, I had a kid getting his 2012 STI tuned drooling over my exhaust note  Get the rest of your bolt ons on Blades and get that biatch tuned, you will love it.

Definitely. Getting G3 intakes installed on Thursday and will probably get HFC's early next year. After that I'll be ready for a tune.

m4a1mustang 09-20-2011 07:00 PM

On the Z, for a relatively safe tune, I the max I would go is a hard limit at 7800. Given how the car feels above 6500 I wouldn't be too comfortable at 8k on a regular basis.

I'm never that high on a regular basis though. Don't really ever go past 5k while I DD. Probably only get close to redline like once a week at the most. I think I'll be ok with having it set at 8k for when I need it, probably just at the drag strip.

unless you are Twin Turbo'd....

m4a1mustang 09-20-2011 07:10 PM

Well if you aren't there on a regular basis I don't think you need to run to 8k at all, especially if you are concerned about reliability. I ran mine to 7800 and that was fine.

Meh we'll see how it goes. I might get addicted to the higher rpms and the higher power up there with the intakes. :p

I'll go there when I want to have fun, which is pretty much just on the weekends.
