Now for my first "On Topic" post in this thread.

So, for years, car mags have speculated that the next mustangs would have an IRS.

What say you, 5.0wners? Do you really think the next Stang strikes a blow for independence? Or do you think it remans LRA?

Yes, IRS for next model.

It's also going to be a minimum of 250 lbs lighter. The 5.0 will be direct injected with an estimated 450 hp.

3.7L V6 might be replaced with a turbo 4 banger.

Hoping it gets done well...I'd pick it up. If not, we will see what's out then

So I should hold out another year, and then I can beat you guys on the Dragon? SWEET! :roflpuke2::roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

RZ, that sounds like a pretty good indicator.

i'd heard the rumor about the 4 banger from a couple rags and from a buddy of mine who is a mechanic at a Ford dillership.

Yeah, one of the guys I used to work on cars with made it to a final round interview...don't think he got the job though....

Though maybe that's just what they want us to think :ugh2:
:rofl2:

Red__Zed 09-20-2011 08:22 AM

You'll have to wait like 2-3 years though :p

so after we move into the house... and I get back from deployment.. should I trade in the Z and get a GTR, or a 5.0hh

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2011 08:40 AM

Also heard it's not going to be a retro design and will be something new that has some elements of prior mustangs. Ford wants to sell the same version of it in all global markets.

That's a pretty significant price gap there :icon17:

I like the GT-R better, but a 5.0 would save you a ton of money that you could use to pay off your house, save, and mod the 5.0.

Yeah, it won't be straight retro but it will share elements with previous generations. Much like the 370 has a modern look but shares a lot of lines with the original Zs.

Auto only killed the gator for me. Almost picked one up instead of the z (would have been a huge mistake in 2010), but test drove one and was not fan.

Funny looking back, at the time I couldn't get a test drive in a wrx because of the Subaru insurance issue...but the gtr was no problem. Took it out for half a day with no questions asked....

Same here. I appreciate the numbers the GTR puts down, but overall it's not really that fun to drive for me. I prefer the traditional three pedal and 6 speed setup.

The numbers are spectacular.

A two-ton four-seater that can lap the world's greatest race tracks as fast as the world's premiere two-seat exotic sports cars, and it costs less than 100k.

I prefer a three pedal, too, but I agree, the numbers are awesome.
