500 rwhp for NA????!!?!?!? Must have an aggressive tune on there. What's the most I can get withOUT getting a tune??? I want to avoid a tune, at least for now... warranty...

That would be nuts. Still debating on whether or not I want to do the 4.08 gears/diff. They are some pretty awesome mods that would help a lot on the track, but I don't want to spend too much money on the Z.

Because you might trade it in for a 5.0 or Shelby??? :stirthepot:

Nope, the only thing I'm trading the Z in for is a GT-R :D

That was the same issue I had with the z...I was basically at a crossroads were I wouldn't be happy without wildwoods, LSD/gears, and sc....and I realized it wasn't worth it.

One day when the prices drop I may buy one again as a beater for track days and such.

I think I wanna stop after HFC's, Uprev, SP wheels, Akebono BBK, and maybe rear sways. After that I can just claim it as a sport package Z if I try to trade it in, I doubt the dealership will even know :icon17:

Red__Zed 10-18-2011 03:44 PM

Vin number will say its not :ugh2:

That's true. Didn't you start out with a base Z, blades?

FromG2Z 10-18-2011 03:52 PM

Dan btw... I was having "dirty" thoughts about that Shelby I test drove yesterday. Tsk tsk..... naughty thoughts.

I have a touring without the sport package. All those things I listed earlier were things I plan on getting in the future, not ones that I already have.

Nismoracer, just curious, why'd you switch up to the 5.0?

I switched to the 5.0 cuz the new engine is strong 412hp out of the box...pretty sweet. The last time i had a mustang it was a 5.0. The mustang was always in the back of my mind and i was quite happy with my nismo. But it just lacked a little more power and it was a little uncomfy and not as practical. Those are little things. My insurance dropped $60 a month also, go figure. I didnt consider a stang too much until i drove it. It had that extra punch that i wanted. And the stang is so easy to gain more power from. The 5.0 responds so well to a CAI & tune. The power increase is really noticeable. The Z is fun to drive but is a little to small and a little short on power in comparison. Its hard to know all these things that come up from a test drive. You find out more later through ownership. If i could i would've liked to have both. The build quality on the Z is better but it falls short on bang for the buck. Ford did good with this new 5.0. Lots of power, quality of the stang has improved overall. It drives smooth soaks up all the bumps and doesnt rattle my teeth. Am i getting old?...lol. I have always been a mustang guy had many different sports cars but this one just fills the void. It took a lot of mods to get my 1990 gt to go as fast as the new 5.0 does out of the box. But for now pretty happy with my stang. Hopefully i wont have to get rid of it like my last stang. I dont see that happening my student loans are all paid off.

That wasnt my experience around here. I could usually edge out the comparable model year 350's with my 01 GT.

the 260hp sorta sucked but the torque was great, assuming you knew how to drive it. Unfortunately most people can't seem to handle a car that makes such great low end torque and thus why you saw 350s beat them here and there.

So well said man. I think for the most part, that's why we all jumped ship. Things come up during normal life that makes us realize it's time to move on to another car.

As far as insurance though, mine stayed the same :( How much are you guys paying? Mine is like 60 a month total.... same for both Z or 5.0.

I was able to eek out a 13.99 with my bone stock '03, but mostly it was in that 14.0-14.2 range which was pretty comparable to the first 350, if not better.

It wasn't until I switched to 4.10 gears that the car really woke up. from basically 14 flat all the way down to 13.50. Low trap, but the car ripped from a dig. I remember hanging with LS1s through the top of 2nd. It wasn't til we hit third that their power advantage would commence with the rape.

It was a fun little car for sure.

Mine dropped about 50%.

The risk based adjustments on the z were killing me.

Nope not that agressive at all, just optimized for mods, DD, untouched knock sensor...its legit

Build consists of:
CAI, boss manifold, longtubes, exhaust, stage 1 comp cams and heads, and a93 tune...that's it! Only diff for me is am doing shorty headers withh off road H...so I might a few hp short of 500rwhp...now there saying that 550+ is possible NA
