I think if you do your work you can get a good deal on a new GT500.

^This. Same story with me. Just gotta do your homework and be willing to walk away. Only reason why some dealers give these ridiculous markups and expect you to pay asking price is because some dumb folks actually DO pay it.

Yep. I say low ball them for right around invoice. If they aren't willing to go that low, they aren't worth your business, and in a few months, if that car's still on the showroom floor, they'll change their tune.

Also, give them a "window of opportunity" that you will be willing to buy at that price. After that, tell them you will move on or they will think of you as a fish in the tank whilst they angle for someone else willing to pay more.

when buying ANY new car, never pay more than 500 over invoice if you can help it... unless of course you're buying a porsche or ferrari... lol. Any mainstream vehicle, should be able to get close to invoice if not under it.

m4a1mustang 10-11-2011 02:02 PM

Yeah, even if it's in demand you should be able to at least get invoice for it.

Steve btw, another topic... I was on the stang forum, and read there that though a CAI with tune is best for most gains, this dude said it's still worth getting a CAI with no tune because it results in about 20whp, proven by like Airraid or something.

Is this true? I thought gains from CAI with no tune are minimal at best.

I've seen some of the no-tune CAIs at around 10whp or so. 20whp seems far fetched to me.

definitely no 20whp gain with any intake w/o a tune. Most brands do a baseline with either an 87 or 91 octane fuel, then tune the intake with 93 then re-dyno, thats why there are claims of 30+ whp. I've seen people on svt and afm with actual dyno sheets that have definitely seen gains of 20whp+ with a cai/tune combo. Airraid and JLT so far have made the best numbers according to Chris at AM.

oh, figured i'd share this thread with you guys, a 950+hp 5.0 w/ stock MT82 transmission, holy crap.

How long until the engine goes under that stress?

good question, there are quite a few shop cars pushing 700+whp on the stock internals, still going strong and sitting comfortably in the low 10's/high 9's, man I need forced induction.

Red370 10-11-2011 03:41 PM

here's a pass with a built block/procharger:

8 seconds? holy shyt man.

So if you had it to do all over again would you buy a GT500 or a supercharged 5.0?

m4a1mustang 10-11-2011 08:45 PM

I prefer the 5.0... I think it's the better engine. I'd take an N/A 5.0 over the GT500... but that's just me.

Do not like the 5.4 nearly as much. Still a beastly engine though.
