opinions on 2011 Subaru STI

Get the Subaru if you're concerned about winter weather driving and unless you're tracking the car IMO I don't see the price premium of the STi over the standard WRX.

Get the Subaru if you're concerned about winter weather driving and unless you're tracking the car IMO I don't see the price premium of the STi over the standard WRX. On paper the numbers are close enough that street driving won't matter. Additionally the later m.y. WRX (5 door) has a bit more STi like styling. If you get a Subie, you will need winter tires for any snow driving - don't think you can just tromp around for any distance on your summer shoes.

I love the WRX for utility, high altitude performance, fuel mileage and AWD. It's easier to drive than the Z for day to day driving.

I love the Z for styling, low end torque, handling that requires skill to extract, tech features, fit and finish and uniqueness.

If I had to choose one, I would choose the WRX for the sole reason of snow. If I lived in a no snow zone, it'd be the Z.

I think Subaru has made them all look the same. The best ways to tell the difference is the Brakes and maybe the wheels, not sure about the wheels.

not anymore. 2011 WRXs got the widebody.

The STI has stuff like the wing, and some little accents all over the car (fender, over the exhaust pipes, etc), grille...and of course rims/brakes

Depends how you drive. I can usually get a few mpg better in my Z than my WRX, but it's pretty close.

Gas mileage in both the Z and STI suck so if that is a concern look for a different car altogether. If you want power and gas mileage look no further than a C6 Corvette. Used to get 32mpg on the hwy with that thing doing 80+ to California. Then again this won't solve your AWD itch for snow and rain. Honestly in a performance car gas mileage shouldn't even be a factor; or at least that's my opinion. That's the price I pay to have a fun car

main difference is brakes and wing. wrx comes with no/stubby wing vs the sti's. and of course brakes. wrx wheels look pretty similar to sti wheels already.

Still considering an STI to replace my wife's 2002 Maxima. At first we liked the 5-door more, but the more we see the 4 door, the more we like it (other than the outrageous wing).

if mileage is a big issue the new base impreza is pretty good. 36 on an AWD system is badass.

Default I'm absolutely shocked

to hear so many people say the Sti sedan is ugly... and the wing is horrendous? are you people smoking crack before you get out of bed in the morning? no disrespect intended but I'm willing to bet that every person who feels this way is over 40yrs old, and is clearly not an enthusiast. my dad is 51, and I'm 21. we both agree that the 2011 Sti is one of the best looking cars on the road. I know we are all entitled to our own opinion but if you beg to differ you must have terrible taste in cars. the ONLY thing the Z has on the Sti is elegance, or "class" as some like to put it. remember we drive a sports car!!!

All the benefits of a WRX without the performance...

The wing is pure "boy racer". The car looks sporty, but not classy in the least. I'm not yet 40. The car looks nice, but its styling is over-aggressive with a huge wing.

Also, "I know we are all entitled to our own opinion but if you beg to differ you must have terrible taste in cars"... That's a troll statement if I've ever read one.

I'm sorry but taking a $15k car and adding a spoiler or what not doesn't make it look much better. People don't buy the sti purely for looks, just like people don't buy a civic si just for looks. The sti looks ok but it will never turn heads, people will never stop you to ask what it is. No offense to sti owners. It's not a bad looking sedan.
