My new car, BMW 328i coupe
 

hey guys, I know a lot of people that are familiar with me on the forums, know that I got rid of my Z in July and received my new car earlier this month. The car is a BMW 328i coupe with X-Drive (AWD), fully loaded with every option including the M-Sport package.

let me pretense some of the thoughts that many of you will wonder, i.e. why not a 335i? I decided to sell my Z because I live in Brooklyn, NY... between the seasons, the potholes, the 1 highway with a 50mph speed limit that I have to deal with... the car was just too much for me. Paying the monthly finance amount that I was paying, with the car living in the garage, was just starting to really get on my nerves. I wanted to take it everywhere, but at the same time, I didn't want to ruin it.

I went to test drive a 328i and felt that it was enough power for me. Getting a twin turbo 335i would mean spending more money on mods, no way in hell am I getting a twin turbo car and keeping it stock. A 328i made sense as a stock DD that I can live with on a daily basis, has enough power for NYC and as of right now my plans are to get either a bike or a project car, for those times when I fiend for the power my Z had.

lol your car is nice. I mean, it's a 3-series, you can't go wrong. And it's pretty. Kudos for getting a colorful interior. I get tired of black interiors.

Bumper iunno, but what's wrong with those wheels? They look pretty great and can handle a lot of rubber. They're great on any Z imo.

Dude that is sweet. I had a 07 328i till I got my Z in May. I miss the BMW sometimes, but don't regret my move. My bmw was black and so hard to keep clean. They're great cars! I'll be in a BMW eventually again.

Pretty sure that's wrong. Both cars return almost the same MPG. They're essentially the same 3.0L I6 motor.

Just looked at official MPGs from BMW and both AWD cars are 17-25MPG.

yeah current gen 3's are about same MPG for both models. I'm averaging around 17-18 right now, since its mostly city driving. Next gen 3's are really going to come into play, turbo charged i-4's for the new 328's and single turbo'd i-6's for the 335's.

i'm actually thinking of getting a 335d as the next car. again, I don't need 300hp for a daily driver in brooklyn.

The new 3-series with the 8-speed will be averaging 32MPG highway (335i) and the I4 will hit 36MPH highway.

The current 535i with the 8-speed auto does 31MPG highway. That's incredible.

I have a new 328xi and a 2009 335i, great cars but having lived in NYC and driving through those same roads every week...That Sport Suspension is the worst for handling the NY & NJ Pot holes.
