Video Find: Hennessey Unleashes the 700-hp V700 Cadillac CTS-V

If anything can be said for Hennessey Performance Engineering, they cut to the chase. When details on the new V700 arrived in our inbox today, they came with a short note that read: "the best way to describe this car is simply to say that it is like a 'four-door ZR1'."

Considering the awesome power of the mighty Corvette ZR1, that's big talk. Can the Hennessey V700 upgrade for the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V cash that check? You bet it can. How does 700 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque grab you? What about a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.1 sec and a standing quarter-mile in 10.9 sec at 129 mph? A 211-mph top speed? This car's got it all, including the optional 20-in. HRE wheels and Nitto drag radials necessary to pull off those times.

How does Hennessey do it? A lot of mechanical massaging under your hood is in order. Order one up and Hennessey will tear your already-supercharged engine down to the short block and build it back up monster-style. A new cam shaft is in order, as are high-flow cylinder heads. Breathing into them are an upgraded supercharger with a smaller pulley and a four-in. cold-air intake. Helping them exhale are a set of 1 7/8-in. long-tube headers, a three-inch exhaust system and high-flow catalytic converters. Add an upgraded intercooler and a reprogrammed engine computer and you've got yourself a recipe for an extra 146 hp and 150 lb-ft over stock.

Of course, no performance car is complete without some kind of acknowledgement, so "Hennessey" embroidered head rests, a dash plaque and an engine plaque are all included. Do-it-yourselfers will be happy to know that the V700 upgrade comes in both kit and turn-key form, so you can decide where you want to put your dollars. How many dollars? Hennessey hasn't said, but expect a decent premium over the $58,575 starting price the CTS-V carries.

But don't take our word for it, check out the car for yourself in today's Video Find. Hennessey was nice enough to drop not one, but two videos on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. The first, which you can see HERE, showcases the car's impressive speed and beautiful engine note. The second, found HERE, demonstrates the V700's ability to put down 615 hp and 601 lb-ft at the wheels on a chassis dyno. Enjoy!

Except, it's a Hennessey vehicle. If you let him work on it half of your motor will be pawned off and you won't get your vehicle back for a year.

Couldn't pay me enough to ride in a vehicle he touches.:eekdance:

Yes, not the very best reputation there.

^ that's putting it nicely lol. Even car and driver (a couple years back) mentioned in an article how bad their customer service was. I mean, they couldn't even do decent work with the magazine people, imagine the average person.

A stock one with the wheels would do just as well to me. And keeping the warranty FTW.

The normal CTS-V is a beast. A 700hp version would be insane.
I'm not a big fan of the styling on the car though.
I'd probably go for a TT IS-F instead if I needed to haul some munchkins to soccer practice in a hurry.
