It might be ok as long you have a team of mechanics to constantly look after it and you don't mind always driving above 15k rpm .... and replacing it every 1000 miles.

I'm actually not a fan of how they sound this year. The blown diffuser mapping business makes them sound awful in person. Lotus-Renault (Petrov/Heidfeld not the other Lotus) and the Mercedes' sound broken when they're off throttle. I'm looking forward to the new turbo regs

I honestly never got into F1 or NASCAR or anything. Mainly, I enjoy watching videos of production cars hammering the 'ring or Leguna Seca and the like. You know, something I might be able to actually own one day, basically.

rod bearings crank cams. Got $20K

Buy a LF-A if you want the sound, or Ferraris.

I like it. It's spectacle. Watching F1, MotoGP, NASCAR, GT or Le Mans... It's all good fun to watch hardcore tuned racing vehicles do their thing.

But I agree that it's also nice to watch genuinely stock sports cars going hard around race tracks or challenging public roads. One of the reasons I love Top Gear so much is that they have challenges in some beat up 80's car.

Both the stock rods and pistons will have a problem with 8500+. Also, the stock cams don't work up there, nor does the stock exhaust, so in order to both make the engine live and to make any power up top you are going to have to do some serious spending.

If you ever actually heard a F-1 engine you would not even compare it to a street car.

It's unbelievable how loud F1 cars are in person. And fast. The TV coverage really doesn't give a good sense of the noise and speed.

Indy and NASCAR are loud too I guess but not on the same level

its the small engine size + high rev
ever heard a sport bike before?
(the bike revs to 12k + the engine is small 1000cc or 1.0 liter.. our z has 3700cc or 3.7 liters)
sound frequency (pitch) depends on how fast the object vibrates.
faster the vibration, higher the pitch
hope this answers your question
notice: the higher he revs his engine the higher the exhaust pitch. F1 cars can reach 15k! wow xd

18k, but who's counting. When I first started watching five or six years ago, they went up to 20k.

FIA limits them to 18K now, I believe 16K is purposed for 2013
