Big's build thread
So this is where I will be posting my build and questions about my new altima.
Intro 2011 Nissan Altima Crimson Black Coupe Manual Trans http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...7-12193630.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...7-16203138.jpg Plans: Alpine w910 Head unit Hertz 6.5 speakers Focal 6X9 Rears Image Dynamics 10 inch sub Audison LRX 5.1 amp Wheels Volk? Rays? Nismo Exhaust Short throw shifter Give me some ideas for wheels! |
A side thought.
What do you guys think about putting a the370z badge on the rear side windows? Maybe so you guys can flag me down! |
Looking Good Matt!

Show the forum some love. Nothing wrong with that.

Seriously man, congrats on the car. It's a really nice car. Take of it. If you have any questions, you can always ask me. I'm pretty close to you. If I were you, I'd do sound. There's nothing WRONG with the stock rims. Drive it for a little and when it's time to get new tires, get a new wheel with tires. In the mean time, you can research. If I were you, I'd do a good quality Short throw shifter and audio. BUT be careful, your transmission warranty MAY be void after installing short throw shifter. Just my :twocents: my order would be a. short throw shifter b. exhaust c. audio |
AK I am surprised at you! You should know audio is at the top of my list! After taking care of the damage on the side of the car.:shakes head:
But thank you for the congrats I love the car I really do. At least I am from the same manufacture as the z now. The nismo exhaust from what I have heard on youtube is sweet! And a short throw sifter would be nice just have to see about warranty. :worship: |
Ideas for wheels that will fit right?
Nismo? Rays? Photoshop would be a plus! |

They would have to proove that was the cause. but realy, you can put it back to stock before taking it to service if you were having a transmission problem. As for upgrades your choice of HERTZ 6.5" is great I would also suggest HERTZ 6x9 If you can. unless you have the Focal already. Audison 5.1 Is a great amp. You may want to check out the new Hertz HD amps just came out, small foot print. |

The short shift will probably be after the warranty runs out. |
Short throw shifter I wouldn't worrie about voiding warranty, I'm sure you can safely put it on. Before you decide on it though have you ever used a stick shift car with one before because I've never been a fan of them.
|
Yes a few times with 370z's I love them and how quick I can go to the next gear.
|
|
nice!

Oooo for a second I thought you actually put them on! LOL okay whew...good. I like the wheels though, but like Kenchan said maybe 18s and lowered would look better.
|
I do not think I will be lowering it any. That would take the practicality out of a every day vehicle.
18's is a must as 19's just are to big |
big- if you go not lowered make sure you check the factory offset and keep the width and offset conservative. otherwise it will look like a 4x4 and you will end up lowering later.
if nissan sells a 18' 'sport' wheel for your car, check the specs on that wheel and get the same or similar. GL! |

funny you mentioned that nmj- cause last week it snowed here and every time my G went over a chunk of snow about 4" in height i could hear my car bottoming out. lol (bottom engine cover). no damage or anything.

I realized that I would never drive my Z in the snow anyways, but it does help to be not lowered because many of the places I go have a lot of speed bumps and incline ramps and I almost always scratch, just imagine if I lowered. :icon17: |
Altima's have a lot of clearance underneath actually more than my civic did. So if my stock wheels are 17's I should not have very many problems with 18's should I?
I want a normal ride, understandably it may be a little rougher with less tire. Had to give her a bath yesterday foam guns are a must for black cars http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...n/DSC00126.jpg |

my Z is stock height. i dont plan on lowering her at this point. not worried about scraping, rather dont want to mess up a good thing. the car drives great in stock form and the only thing i'd like to change is stiffening up the dampers a little bit for this one dip + off camber turn i have near my area. it's not a big enough deal to me to pull the trigger on the koni's just yet. :D big - no after shots of your wash? :D |
LOL at lowering the DD and not the Z. But I agree better not to mess up a good thing especially when the Z looks good how it stands now. Just keep doing what you are doing with your cars. Even with scraping, atleast we know both your cars will be as clean as a babys bottom.:icon17:
Anyways, didn't mean to deviate the thread, but yeah Big you shouldn't have a problem with 18s heres an idea of how 18s would look on an altima. That wheel gap is a killer though, if this person lowered it, it would be perfect. http://i50.tinypic.com/4qlwtg.jpg |
oh and sorry for the abnormally large pic^^^ haha, didn't preview the post :icon17:
