That's because they are cheap as **** to maintain. Try going through $1500 in tires a few times and you will wish you were tracking a Miata. You get a ton of fun with not nearly the cost.

They arent nearly as refined as the lotus are to run around with that little power. Our z's arent exactly big power but are a heck of alot more fun than the miata. and as someone said, its cus they are cheap and easy. I have a friend out of PA that runs a shop that enters their miata in every race they can. He said he would rather race his solstice though except for the miata is just cheaper to run / race. |

hummm... if i only had the Z wat would i buy for $25K.
id probably get a new Mazdaspeed3 without the nav version. use the rest of the money on snow tire set for the 3. not too many cars i like in that price range. |

This would be a pretty hard choice for me because the S2000 has been and still is one of my dream cars that I could one day buy and build from the ground up and keep my Z as a DD. It doesn't snow in SoCal and the rain isn't horrific even though it can get bad sometimes so I would be fairly ok driving my Z all the time. I've always wanted a silver/white s2k with red interior, carbon fiber top, turbocharged, V3 coils, a sexy set of rims and a big (functional) spoiler. A loud dual exhaust would be nice too. That, my Z, a Bugatti Renaissance, Zonda convertible, and a Agera R in my garage at my Newport Beach house and I'll be as happy as can be ![]() ![]() |

I would also get another S2000 or maybe a mazdaspeed miata. Both are definitely great track cars for the money. You think about running a Corvette regularly on the track. Cost would be triple without triple the fun.

![]() Of course they're not as fun as a Z, but a Z costs over 25k. Miatas are incredibly fun, though, and if I ever get into tracking, I'll probably be doing it in a Spec Miata because of cost. Last edited by shadoquad; 08-02-2011 at 08:51 AM. |
