Ferrari Maintenance Program
Looks like Ferrari will be offering 7 years of free scheduled maintenance to anyone who buys a new 2012 Ferrari. I think this is awesome and definitely a step towards making exotics somewhat more affordable (:icon17:). Now we just need the other exotic car companies to do the same *cough*Lamborghini*cough*.

I sure as hell would not buy a 5 year-old Ferrari at present because of all the **** coming due. But If this were the case, it would be a VERY viable option because all that stuff would a) not be "stacked up" waiting for the new owner and b) you would get at least 2 years of pure enjoyment without "hidden" expense. At which time you could sell it, or pony up and maintain. |

I wasn't planning on getting a new one, just like a 5 year old used one. If they do this same sort of thing and have it transferrable, it would definitely increase the chances of me getting one. I know realistically I may never get one, but I can still dream for now :p |
IMO, you don't buy a Lambo if you can't afford the lifestyle that comes with it.....and by that I mean that you need to be making well into the 6 figure territory or even in the 7 figures. You don't want to have to worry about a car that's worth more than your salary.

More realistically though, I will probably end up with a GT-R. |

Not trying to hate on daydreaming man. I dream of owning an exotic everyday, and I hope that one day I will. I'm just saying, cheaper maintenence doesn't negate the fact that you still have to worry about the car if it were to be damaged etc. I personally would feel a lot more comfortable owning a $300,000 asset (besides a house) if I could afford not to care as much about it. |

I'd prefer a G T R personally. That said, I agree that the seven year maintenance program will certain make cars more appealing to those who may otherwise not be inclined to purchase. This is beginning to show in many areas of sales normally reserved for "high end" buyers where by the sellers are offering inducements such as you mentioned that make it affordable for some who otherwise might pass. Always good to have a goal! If you wind up settling for a GTR, I'd say you'll be just fine. :)

Six figures - the government taking half - home mortgage - utilities and insurances = about $3.50 :shakes head: Good luck on that Lambo purchase :p
|
why dont all you guys that want the experience of having an exotic just rent one for a day or 2...Its around $1500-$2500 a day but thats a hell of a lot cheaper then buying one.
|
I have thought about it but its not really the same. If you own it you have more time to get used to it so you can really push it to the limits, which IMO is one of the main reasons to get one. Can't reality do that for a weekend rental. If I did rent one, I'd probably want to take it to a track :p
|
I'll never own a Ferrari or a Lambo or whatever, but that really doesn't bother me. They are more art pieces than cars, imo.
