Camo's 1/4 mile run.

I know this isn't a 370, but I thought it was interesting to post it.

2010 Camaro SS First 1/4 Mile Drag Test- Video

initialgemini 04-28-2009 01:25 AM

that's the best time it gets with an engine that's nearly twice the displacement of our engines?

iceman21_23 04-28-2009 01:32 AM

a 13.6? are you serious?! wow...

kgreen 04-28-2009 01:39 AM

victort 04-28-2009 02:18 AM

is it just me or does the video looked stretched vertically?

MC 04-28-2009 10:09 AM

meh

McTwist 05-03-2009 12:36 AM

Whereas everyone else pulls in the 13.1 range, Hennessy can only pull a 13.6?

...couldn't be because that crook wants to make it seem like simply putting a Hennessy badge on the car drops the time by half a second:gtfo2:

Bingo. Looked like he was granny shifting and also went into fourth.

Bibimbap 05-03-2009 09:08 AM

Probably doing like some other popular brands and doing an average time so they can boast better sales when they drop seconds off the 1/4 with their products. I think they did it on purpose so people would see 13.6 to 12.5 compared to 13.1 to 12.5 (example for reference).

import111 05-03-2009 10:15 AM

Trap speed seems high for a 13.6

I bet it can do better.

Diversion 05-03-2009 10:31 AM

At 108 mph.. it needs more traction.. That's enough MPH to get into the high 12s with better grip or a better launch. Need to see what his 60 foot was.

wstar 05-03-2009 12:52 PM

That was a weak run, you can tell he's not running the RPMs up enough, laying into the throttle slowly, and shifting like my grandma. That car should be damn near 13 flat stock. I know all the LS1 cars from back in 1999 when I bought mine were in the 13.1-13.3-ish range bone-stock.

eXo5 05-03-2009 01:28 PM

I would expect much more from that car... Put a different driver in that thing!

He's trying to sell his aftermarket parts by pulling such a crap time with a stock car.

MightyBobo 05-07-2009 09:47 AM

You guys honestly think the best the car can do is a 13.6? Lol...the 60' if I remember right (YouTube is blocked at work) was something to the tune of 2.3X or so. Fantastic driver there...

Stop trying to make yourselves feel better, it'll run mid to high 12's with decent tires and a competent driver.

NyCSnEaK 01-31-2010 08:28 AM

Damn I hate Henn. for being crooks. Obtain weak baseline numbers to exaggerate their b.s. horsepower gains. Buyer beware, "all that glitters, is not gold". If any camaro owner falls prey to this okey doke. They derserve it. Just my :twocents: :tiphat:

Zerafian 02-03-2010 12:28 PM

according to motor trend about 2 months back hennessy was the most honest out of 3 other companies that built engines for the new camaro, challenger, and mustang. They re stated HP was only 30hp off from the dyno motor trend did. Where as the other two companies were well over 80-100hp off.

I remember hearing the stories about hennessy years...maybe he has spurts of dishonesty.

A stock Camaro SS can run a 12.9 pretty easily. With a few grand in mods it can reach 11's. It is a beast of a motor, and 426hp can be transformed into 550hp very quickly with a cam, intake, test pipes, exhaust and tune.

m4a1mustang 02-03-2010 02:37 PM

One of the great things about those huge pushrod engines... you want 100 more hp? Just cam the thing!

What are these "test pipes" you speak of? heh

"Long Tubes" were the words you were looking for :)
