Would you buy this over a GT-R

Fake Amuse kit doesn't look so bad after seeing this. Seriously, $89k for a glorified Mercury Cougar :roflpuke2:

What are people thinking....this makes me sad inside. |

Hell no! :shakes head:

Not a chance in hell!

That kid made that himself. I give him props. Most men don't even know how to change a tire or repair a hole in the wall. I respect someone who follows through with a project like this. The sad thing is most people have no idea what a veyron is and can't tell a lambo from a fiero kit.
|
I agree. Mad props to the guy who built that. I wouldn't even know where to start.

That V6 in those "things", is anything but reliable.

If I had $10k to burn I'd buy this thing and do donuts. Oh, wait...
|
I was about to post this hahahaha. Awesome.

The body work is pretty amazing, but why on God's green earth would you use one of the worse chassis, drivetrain and cars ever produced to serve as a base? Such a shame, there are soooo many other cheap cars that would be a much better alternative.
|
two words: **** that :shakes head:
|
:roflpuke2:
|
yea, he could have picked up a used C5 Z06 for pretty cheap and at least would have had some power behind it.
a mercury cougar is pathetic. |
bring this guy here on the forum to make some new bodykits for us
|

I forwarded this onto a co-worker of mine thats really into cars. heres his 2 cents:
Actually, this guy has been around for awhile – I’ve read about him elsewhere. Yeah, it’s a facepalm. But it isn’t quite as crazy as some people think… Stick with me, here: First things first: Why the Cougar? (Keep in mind: That Cougar model is essentially a 2-door version of my Ford Contour, so I’m familiar with its details): As it turns out, the Cougar’s wheel base is almost *exactly* the same as the Veyron – which helps in creating realistic replica proportions. Take a closer look at the pics. Unlike many replica projects (I’m looking at you, Faux Fierarri projects), the overall shape and structure is really pretty well done. Next: Drivetrain. No, it will never be a 1000+ HP Bugatti engine. The stock 170HP V6 was good for its day – but the Contour SVT got 200HP out of the same engine. Meanwhile, the Duratec 3.0 is a bolt-in replacement. The Noble M400 got 425HP out of this engine with two turbos – you could probably do better than that today. Does FWD bug you? Simple: Find a wrecked Jag X-Type (shares chassis with Contour!) and pull the AWD parts. Most things will bolt right in after you shorten the rear driveshaft. Bingo: Now you’ve got a 425+HP, AWD Veyron replica. So: Yes, he wants stupid money for what is currently a fiberglass project. Personally, I think it would be fun to create a Cougar sleeper: Stick with the stock body, but go nuts with the drivetrain options that are out there (another plus: Many European Ford Mondeo performance goodies will bolt on). It would certainly make for fun stoplight encounter surprises… |
guy does have a point^^
|
Ok...but you can tune or swap engines and drivetrains all you want....This kid is selling it for $90,000 before any of that. Since it is essentially just a body kit, I really don't see a point to this car.
Personally I think the Veyron looks lake crap to begin with. http://www.carfront.com/wp-content/u...yron-mouse.jpg The only redeeming quality to the Veyron was it's power, speed and attention to detail...non of which is present with this replica. There is no logic to owning this car unless you build it for yourself. This is the car equivelant to a tranny posing as a chick. ------------------------------------------ Over 156k hits, 43 offers on his Ebay page. I wonder if any of those offers are actually serious. |
Very talented to do this himself, but why anyone would pay 89K to buy it is beyond me. Oh and to answear your question, HELL NO would I buy this over a GTR.
