Fake Amuse kit doesn't look so bad after seeing this. Seriously, $89k for a glorified Mercury Cougar :roflpuke2:

This is the nicest rebody car you will find at this time and look as hard as you like but you will not find another one that looks even close to this one. This car looks like a million dollars all day long. The paint job is base / clear, sanded and buffed to a show car shine. Ferrari red and black combo. The body is made of composite and fiberglass with a one inch tubular steel frame glassed into it. This one inch tube frame is welded to the donor car which makes the entire thing solid as a rock! This car is actually a 2002 mercury cougar two door sport coupe. The car has a nice reliable 2.5 L V6 motor and Ice cold AC. Its easy to maintain and cost affordable. I feel these are some of the most important things for sure. There are custom wheels and tires installed, 20 inch staggered. This car drives very smooth with the 20 inch wheels. I get so many questions asking how fast is the car. My best reply is fast enough. It is not a rocket ship, If you are a motor head you can install a larger motor, but I do not do that kind of work. This car is a stock 2002 mercury cougar, Stock wheel base, Stock motor and automatic transmission, Stock power windows and locks, stock wiring, stock guages, stock AC controls under these nice fancy looking aluminum trim parts. The seats are even modified stock cougar parts as well, Just everything has been recovered in a real leather, Leather seats, Leather headliner, Leather trim on the carpet, Leather Dash. Another nice bonus about this car is the rear seating area, Not large by any means, however if you have a kid or two, they will enjoy riding around in this beast. The rear seats fold down to expose a small storage area behind the seats. There is also another storage area in the very rear of the car. The exhaust exits through the large single tip which produces a nice tone. Check out the fit of the door windows to the body with the rubber molding, This factory look completes the package

This is a great car! Its fun to drive and turns heads more then you can imagine! I could even be a great daily driver..

What are people thinking....this makes me sad inside.

Brutal 370Z 07-18-2011 03:26 PM

Not a chance in hell!

cptspeed 07-18-2011 03:35 PM

That kid made that himself. I give him props. Most men don't even know how to change a tire or repair a hole in the wall. I respect someone who follows through with a project like this. The sad thing is most people have no idea what a veyron is and can't tell a lambo from a fiero kit.

Brutal 370Z 07-18-2011 03:49 PM

I agree. Mad props to the guy who built that. I wouldn't even know where to start.

I'll give him props for trying...but epic fail for the fact that he could have used his talents and money on something someone with any taste would actually spend $89k on.

Econ 07-18-2011 04:59 PM

i want to meet the guy that buys this.

6MT 07-18-2011 04:59 PM

That V6 in those "things", is anything but reliable.

/\ so you can point and laugh at him?? (that's what I'd do, along with one of these: )

vividracing 07-18-2011 05:50 PM

If I had $10k to burn I'd buy this thing and do donuts. Oh, wait...

the_student 07-20-2011 02:30 PM

I was about to post this hahahaha. Awesome.

christian370z 07-20-2011 02:48 PM

The body work is pretty amazing, but why on God's green earth would you use one of the worse chassis, drivetrain and cars ever produced to serve as a base? Such a shame, there are soooo many other cheap cars that would be a much better alternative.

HKYStormFront 07-20-2011 02:50 PM

two words: **** that :shakes head:

Waiz 07-20-2011 03:25 PM

Econ 07-20-2011 03:46 PM

yea, he could have picked up a used C5 Z06 for pretty cheap and at least would have had some power behind it.

a mercury cougar is pathetic.

docaam 07-20-2011 03:46 PM

I forwarded this onto a co-worker of mine thats really into cars. heres his 2 cents:

Actually, this guy has been around for awhile – I’ve read about him elsewhere.

Yeah, it’s a facepalm. But it isn’t quite as crazy as some people think…

Stick with me, here:

First things first: Why the Cougar? (Keep in mind: That Cougar model is essentially a 2-door version of my Ford Contour, so I’m familiar with its details): As it turns out, the Cougar’s wheel base is almost *exactly* the same as the Veyron – which helps in creating realistic replica proportions. Take a closer look at the pics. Unlike many replica projects (I’m looking at you, Faux Fierarri projects), the overall shape and structure is really pretty well done.

Next: Drivetrain. No, it will never be a 1000+ HP Bugatti engine. The stock 170HP V6 was good for its day – but the Contour SVT got 200HP out of the same engine. Meanwhile, the Duratec 3.0 is a bolt-in replacement. The Noble M400 got 425HP out of this engine with two turbos – you could probably do better than that today. Does FWD bug you? Simple: Find a wrecked Jag X-Type (shares chassis with Contour!) and pull the AWD parts. Most things will bolt right in after you shorten the rear driveshaft. Bingo: Now you’ve got a 425+HP, AWD Veyron replica.

So: Yes, he wants stupid money for what is currently a fiberglass project.

Personally, I think it would be fun to create a Cougar sleeper: Stick with the stock body, but go nuts with the drivetrain options that are out there (another plus: Many European Ford Mondeo performance goodies will bolt on). It would certainly make for fun stoplight encounter surprises…

HKYStormFront 07-21-2011 02:35 PM

guy does have a point^^

Cmike2780 07-21-2011 03:09 PM

Ok...but you can tune or swap engines and drivetrains all you want....This kid is selling it for $90,000 before any of that. Since it is essentially just a body kit, I really don't see a point to this car.

Personally I think the Veyron looks lake crap to begin with.
http://www.carfront.com/wp-content/u...yron-mouse.jpg

The only redeeming quality to the Veyron was it's power, speed and attention to detail...non of which is present with this replica. There is no logic to owning this car unless you build it for yourself. This is the car equivelant to a tranny posing as a chick.

Over 156k hits, 43 offers on his Ebay page. I wonder if any of those offers are actually serious.

red6spd 07-21-2011 03:24 PM

Very talented to do this himself, but why anyone would pay 89K to buy it is beyond me. Oh and to answear your question, HELL NO would I buy this over a GTR.

How is it not legit?

Just because that Jeep SRT8 driver wasn't there to inspect it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
