would you pay 100K for a hyundai?
found this on another forum, thought id share it here, it seems that hyundai are bored with trying to mess around with the 370z with the Genesis coup, now they are thinking of taking on the GT-R and 911, they must be out of their minds if they expect people to pay 100K for a hyundai, ok no matter how much they claim the numbers on a car would be, i wouldn't pay 100k for a car with no history i mean i can justify paying that amount for a 911 or GT-R not just for the power and performance of them but also for the wide history of these legendary cars. Just one last thought, Hyundai had a hard time competing with the 370 with their genesis coup, how will they expect to keep up with the GT-R or 911

Hyundai has made great strides since they first came onto the scene. Their quality has improved over the years and their sales are a reflection of that. The Elantra, Sonata along with the Genesis Coupe R-Spec and the Equus are also indicative of their move to increase market share by building cars that people are willing to pay for. I personally would not pay 100K for a Hyundai, but then again I wouldn't pay 100K for much of anything. If they do though, it will be good for the auto industry as competition is a good thing. Keeps innovation alive.

You know what's funny? People paying well over 1/4 million for a Lexus.
See, Lexus used to be like Hyundai. BMW/Mercedes/etc. fans thought they were cheap crap. However, through providing equal or superior performance to those cars at cheaper prices, Lexus established itself, and stole a large market segment in the luxury/sport arena. Now, Lexus and BMW and Mercedes are synonymous with each other. Hyundai looks to be following their exact business model. Look how far they came in just 10 years? Give them another 10 and unless the global economy changes radically, you will be singing another tune. |

For those who remember, back in the fifties and sixties if you asked someone what type of words are descriptive of Japanese products, you would have heard, "Cheap", "Crap", etc. Today the same question gets a response more like, "High Tech", "High quality", "I want it", etc. Hyundai hasn't been around for too long but they are definitely making inroads. Since it'll be a while before I will ever need to decide which 100K car I want, I just hope to see as many companies making cars as possible.

Lexus used to be a joke... Infiniti as well. Look at them now. Hyundai keeps making huge strides. The fact so many enthusiasts talk isht about their lack of automotive pedigree helps their cause. It means they are taking chances and doing things right. Give the brand another 10 years and I'm sure a lot of the nay-sayers will be singing a different tune.
