see theres the thing. Nissan can produce a pretty good automobile. What are you basing this statement on?

because by almost every measure out there, the Hyundai's are more reliable than nissan's across the entire brand.

Sure thye may not hold their value, but that is also based alot of people thinking of their name. Aka people who still think Hyundai is the same company as 20 years ago.

The problem with saying you would never consider them is the type of thinking and attitude that has pretty much ruined companies in this country and taken the economy down with it. Unwillingness to change, consider, reconsider and think outside your normal comfort "box" is not good for any person, company, industry, etc.

Now all the random junky comments aside.

truthfully, if i were to consider a hyundai super car (hypotheticaly given i had the money), it would have to outperform the other cars. Being that its Hyundai's start in the supercar area. It would have to be better. Its the same thing with Hyundai's cars now. The reason their brand is growing so fast is that they are generally better than their competitors in the market segment (someone is gonna throw, the gen coupe isnt better than the 370z, but they arent the same market segment, and the Gen Coupe isnt the car they are trying to use to build their name. Sonata, Elantra, Genesis sedan)

If the new sonata, had lower MPG, had a smaller interior and trunk, cost more etc i wouldnt have looked at it over a Camry, Altima, etc.

So yeah if Hyundai releases a supercar that is better than or exactly equal to other supercars that cost the same or more, and you dont throw consideration at it, then your really not trying to buy a supercar, your really out just trying to buy a brand name. (of course if it looks like the backside of a Donkey, i wouldnt consider it either)

I would choose the Z06 also, I would not even consider a GTR!

$100,000.00 for a Hyundai, no not me! But I'd be happy with a 25K Sonata!

What if I didn't want a 4-seater with an automatic and a 2-ton curb-weight?

Totally different cars.

long post and I see where your coming from with this. IMO people are sceptical about it because Hyundai is not neccesarily known just for being cheap (not neccesarily made cheap but cheap in price) but is known for more of an economy car brand. I guess what I am trying to say is they don't have much, if any, experience with high performance cars. It should be interesting to see how it turns out if they follow through....and to see how it looks once it is done.

My choice would still be the R35 and yes, in part, because of the name Nissan skyline

I find it ballsy that you bought the first year of a new model sports car from Nissan.

Not exactly the same though. Nissan has a long heritage with the Z and has been making them for a while. The hyundai supercar would be a first attempt and there is no history or experience behind it. Also, huge difference between trying out a $30-40k first attempt and a $100k first attempt. Still get what you're saying though.

If a mass-murderer can inspire the development of a vehicle that morphed from being "economical transportation" to the platform that the most winning-est automotive name in history has used to dominate automotive sport, by and large, then I am not counting ANYONE out just because of their roots.

People bought the GTR when it cost over $90k when it first came out due to all the mark ups and its a NISSAN so the possibility is there.

I think its a little soon for hyundia though, maybe another 5-10 years...and from the looks of the concept its gonna take that much time to perfect the design.

Ferdinand Porsche designed the car for ol Adolf. So basically Porsche's are all derived from Nazi sleds.

Hey guys, I found a pic of Alchemy:

I first noticed Hyundai making improvements when my friend got an 06 Tiburon GT V6 right after we graduated high school. It was beating everyones Civics, RSXs, and tCs... And it was quieter inside and more comfortable.

tiburon 03 v6 was the first car i paid for myself. it was a great car. felt quick for the time, was good looking. Was not a mustang/civic/rsx which is what everyone else had. Only problem the car ever gave me was the fact that it lead me to believe that i could install a supercharger, coils, sways, new headers, exhaust and change the timing belt in 8 hours without messing something up. (didnt end well)
