Beautiful..as a former FD3S owner I love the lines as you can still see it retains the style of the 3rd gen but adds some Italian exotic looks..im in if the horsepower is right

All I know is Mazda has been taking their sweet time with this, so they better get it right. Some of the articles I've read even hinted to the fact that Mazda is being very cautious with this one and they are making sure it will be more appealing to the masses than the RX-8 and want to avoid the big PR hit the RX-8 took after a lot of engine troubles with the very first model year.

There's no way it will look like the first photo. More likely to look like the second one. They have a winner, it just needs to be faster and more fuel efficient. 17mpg? Needs to be 27mpg at least.

If they can just improve on the torque and mpg (both likely reasons for a possible hybrid assist setup) while keeping the car relatively light, I think the new rotary car would have much more appeal to a larger audience than the RX-8. Mazda has made it clear they are not interested in competing in the power department so I'd actually be impressed if the new rotary would come in somewhere in the 275 hp neighborhood.

Now word has come out this new rotary project is officially dead. There will be no new RX-9 or anything else rotary anytime soon.
Is the American muscle all we will have left in the affordable sports car segment? Is the Z next for the chopping block? |

Theres a reason why the wankel engine is only used in one car that is manufactured today. Personally I'm surprised at how long the RX series has lasted as it is. Not to mention the latest rx is ugly as sin.
