No crap. I had to go back and look at the previous pictures posted for a hood scoop. They'll probably need something like this:

Christ...if the compression of the motor becomes an issue for boost that it's limited to just a few pounds, I don't see these things putting down more than 250WHP on stock blocks without blowing up.

The inevitable STi or TRD version of this car will be supremely better than just slapping on a turbo to the base model

Um, I think the engine used for both is boost friendly!
I believe the tranny will be an issue...
Great handling car, which is missing some power.
This car is a problem.
Lightweight, rwd, handling, looks.

lol not really.

When they can safely deliver over 300hp and still maintain the handling characteristics for under 30k, I might be more impressed.

Compression is way too high to be truly boost friendly.
There's a reason they are running 4psi.
I will eagerly await results/engine carnage pics as appropriate.

Good start -- but needs more.

My old roots blown Celica GT-S put down 250/170 on a dynojet, would have kept up with a lightly modded Z, and would blow the doors off of that turboed FR-S, even with the wrong wheels doing the grunt work.

Nice torque curve, tho. Got rid of the "death valley" pretty handedly.

I saw the first one on the street yesterday. Within 5 minutes I saw a second. The first one was the white which looked very plain. The second was blue w/tint and it looked much better.

For years I have been saying the holy grail would be RWD 300hp/3000lbs/$30k. When I heard the 370z was going lighter I thought it would be the first. Then I heard about the FT-86 and thought it would be the first. Hopefully one of these days somebody hits this mark from the factory.

Agreed.

Test track #'s don't really matter to me. I'm a lot more concerned with the fun to drive factor.

There's cars with 200hp and under that are a lot more fun & rewarding to drive than many 500+hp cars.

Besides, test track #'s only matter if you race your daily drivers for a living.

So... what you're saying is that you'd rather drive a Miata than a GT-R.

To each their own.

Thirded, I'm eagerly waiting for the extremely overpriced sti version. May hit 2/3 criteria.

I have seen a FR-S and a BRZ and have to say the red Scion looked much better, but the Z still beats either by far. The only thing that will make me trade the Z in would be the rumored 400hp hybrid Supra if it looks anything like the artist renderings I have seen.
