I drove it today. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really grab me. For the money, I'd rather have a Miata.

Eh, I wouldn't call the 370Z a Hockey player. It's more of a speed skater. Precise, fast around corners, but not necessarily brutish and powerful. A Hockey player is more of a Corvette Z06, imo.

wilsonp 06-11-2012 12:38 AM

The Z weighs a few hundred pounds too much to be a speed skater - the Z06 is actually lighter than a 370Z. Definitely the hockey player of the group.

kenchan 06-11-2012 04:41 PM

hockey player is more like a super duty pickup with supercharger and all.

The other tread being locked had nothing to do with what I posted.

I love the BRZ / FR-S because they've received phenomenal reviews?

I wouldn't say I "love" them but considering what is known there is absolutely no reason to assume they're somehow "over-priced" / "under-powered".

If that fact hurts your feelings for some reason you have issues.

The point I've made is that a car clearly does NOT have to produce superior #'s to be a superior driver's car.

Case in point: Mazda MX-5 Miata is by far a superior driver's car compared to the 370z despite producing slower test track #'s. This may be hard to swallow for some but reality is reality.

The BRZ / FR-S / MX-5 all costing under 30K and all slower than the Mustang, 370Z, Gen Coupe, etc are superior in terms of being fun / rewarding to drive.

If you race your daily driver's for a living you may want to go with the car which is merely quicker. Otherwise, I don't see the point in going with a car that is less fun to drive but happens to run a quicker 0-60 time.

Free education.

What would you say the "weak link" was ? I sat inside of a Toyota 86 a few months ago and was really impressed with the seat feel, steering wheel, driving position, interior layout/function. Is it the engine & exhaust sound that lets the car down ? ?

Lack of oomph, didn't have the turn-in I expected. Interior was well laid out but cheap. They're ok.

Ok: i guess that's to be expected from a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine. The light weight must have been nice, though (?)
