The MSRP of the Boss is $40,145 according to Edmunds. The MSRP of the Shelby GT500 is about $49K. The Boss usually will have a dealer markup though I'v seen a few people order them for MSRP already. The GT500 has about the same HP as the ZR1 and is significantly lighter.

Totally false.

550bhp is not "about the same" as 638.

3750# is not lighter than 3350#.

ZR1 owns the GT500 in everything but cost and off-road ground clearance, lol

We'll see about that one, MT will do a comparo and I got my money on the fact that the GT500 will still beat it in every tested event.

it will still probably be fugly...
but decent numbers and price

Fail. He obviously meant ZL1, ImportConvert. Given the thread title you should have noticed this. Cut the guy some slack. :)

Yep, just one tiny misplaced letter and I-R-A-putz. :(

:D

I actually like the way the new ZL1 looks. It is too heavy but the supercharger will help it in the straights. It’s getting a magnetic ride like the Corvette it will be interesting to see how it helps in the handling department. But I am really interested in seeing what GM has in store for the Z28. If it's competition is the Boss 302 GM is going to have to shave some weight off that pig and put in some serious handling bits. Got to love the competition though both GM and Ford customers reap the benefits.

You're right. I came in and looked at the last few posts and made mine. I thought somewhere the thread had been de-railed into the typical "GT500 vs. Corvette" topic.

My fault for not reading the whole thing before I posted, and I just let it stand afterward.

I think we can both place the blame on Cheverolet for not differentiating their product lines more thouroughly. I'm also thinking about a class-action suit once people start mistakenly buying Corvettes instead of Camaros.

Intercooled Eaton supercharger. All-aluminum V8 expected to have at least 550 horsepower. Blinding acceleration, top-end performance and proven reliability coexist happily under the hood

But can it negotiate a corner?

It will probably out-perform the 370Z at VIR.

cfweber 04-05-2011 09:54 PM

you are wrong.

there is a new Boss in town.

The ZL1 has to come in at much less than the $50k estimate

wait for the comparison test :driving:

I want the Ford

badly

I'm a total GM fan, but Ford nailed it with the new 5.0 car. If I were buying a car in that market segment, it would be the mustang.

i think someone mentioned it but it does say MSRP is 40k on a Boss mustang

Not sure on a GT500. when they changed to the aluminum block in the GT500 it finally got decent handling reviews.

Im not a fan of the new camero, it does look pretty good and they sell great but just not a drivers car. I like the feel of my Z.

I would love to drive one of these new Boss' though. When will Ford stop acting like Porsche and change the rear suspension from live axle to a independent setup. How much better would the car be??
