'91 Skyline
I got an offer the other day from a friend who knows a friend selling a 1991 GTR RB26TT. He wants 12K for it, but through my friend I can get it for 9K. I don't know what shape it's in, or if it can be insured here other than as a collectible car. I am told it needs cosmetic work, but the engine runs strong. It would be a nice project. What er your thoughts? Get it and rebuild it, or how much do you all think I could flip it for?

Of course it depends on condition. I haven't seen the car yet. I was just curious what kind of interest is out there already. It's a car that is very rare in the U.S. only a couple hundred.

What are the stipulations and terms of the collectible car status?

It would cost something like $200 per month. Also has to be limited driving. I didn't get all the info from GEICO yet because I haven't seen the car. I'll let you know though.

My girl works for geico i can get all the info for insuring it. Depends though some of the cars in the US have actual titles which allows them to be insured and registered as a true skyline. Insurance is a little more because of the price of parts since they are rare here and have to be directly improted on case to case bases. From when I was looking at one my girl pretty much told me if i get into any accident they are pretty much going to total it out and give the option for buy back but with a salvage title
Let me know if you want me to find out Frank |

That would be awesome. From what I understand the issue is whether or not the car was modified to comply with U.S. safety regulations. That's what I don't know yet until I see the car. If not then it has to insured as a collector.
