Default Mercedes SLR Mclaren roadster.

On my way to work this morning I saw a car that I have never seen before. From the back I thought it might be a beemer. When I got a little closer I saw that it was a Mercedes Benz SLR roadster.

I changed lanes to get a better look at it and this guy just punched it and was gone!!! I don't know if he thought I was going try to run him or what? I was just trying to check out this strange looking car.

Anyway the car is way fast and expensive too.

Vegas has it's share of fancy cars but not too many of these I bet.

Definitely rare.
Probably a test mule. He may have zoomed off thinking you were trying to snap pictures. They're on pre-order now.

He had personalized Nevada plates so not a test mule. I don't know how many years that this car has been out? Very quick car though!

It's a 2012 model. First year for the roadster. It isn't even on Mercedes website yet.

Really, that's cool. At least I was able to check it out for awhile. And it only cost about a half a million dollars too!

After your post last night I went to their website and built myself an SLS coupe. I think it ended up being a mere $242k.

I am getting my info wrong then. I think that when I looked up the car it came up on Wikipidia and it had some specs prices etc. If they are only $242K I should get two.

That was for the coupe. I'm not sure how much the roadster is supposed to be. Consider that the carbon brake option for the coupe is $12,500, then I wouldn't want to guess how much a vert would be.

Here's a blurb on the first one.
duPont REGISTRY purchases the #1 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster to be delivered in the U.S.

Wtf are you people talking about? 2012? SLR or SLS? Test mules?

He saw an SLR McLaren. He clearly said so in his first post. The roadster has been on sale since 2007.

It does't play.

A roadster version of the SLR went on sale in September 2007 for £350,000 ($534 485 U.S.). It uses the same supercharged V8 AMG power plant as its coupé siblings, developing 626 PS (460 kW; 617 hp), to propel it to a top speed of 334 km/h (208 mph) and enable 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 3.2 seconds.

However, as a convertible the roadster was burdened with extra weight, which affected performance and handling. The Roadster's roof is made from a "newly developed material" and does not take the form of a folding metal arrangement, as is common on many modern cars. Following a manual unlatching, it takes a mere ten seconds to fold away electrically. According to an official Mercedes document, the cabin of the roadster is capable of allowing conversation between driver and passenger up to a speed of 200 km/h (120 mph) with the roof retracted. This roadster is aimed to compete against other sports cars such as the Pagani Zonda F Roadster.

The SLR is one sick a$$ car. It is so fast. Top Gear raced it against the Murcielago LP 670-4 SV:

The race is towards the end of this video

Most likely it was a SLS, the new Benz uber-expensive roadster. The SLR got disconnected. I called that beast the bat-o-mobile. Sick looking.
