The one badge they all wear proudly is paying too much for their cars. Many purchase cars for status and to compensate for other areas of their lives that are lacking (often between their legs). The GT-R has a long heritage of racing and will stack up just fine against AMG, M, or porsche.
Some people don't have a car's performance as their top priority in the decision making process. Some like to have looks, luxury, and comfort as top priorities and then choose the high performance trim of the same model to have a good overall balance. I don't have any problem with that. Not everyone is going to track their car, so having the all out best performance car on the street means nothing to them. They want a car that is comfortable and fun to drive. One day when I get old, I will probably be one of them

There isn't an AMG or ///M that can beat the GT-R. It's main competitors are the 911 turbo (the next gen 911's are coming out this year I think) and the Corvette. Those are all cars made specifically to be performance machines and bred for the track.
