There isn't an AMG or ///M that can beat the GT-R. It's main competitors are the 911 turbo (the next gen 911's are coming out this year I think) and the Corvette. Those are all cars made specifically to be performance machines and bred for the track. |

I agree. If I had the $$ my DD would be an Audi S6 or S63 AMG. Luxury, comfort, and some performance to boot (mostly straight line grunt when compared to real sports cars)

I think we should get back on topic now, lol.
My sister wanted a Genesis coupe and when I told her it was going to get 1 HP more than my Z, she just laughed at me. She wanted the V4 before, but now she wants the V6 just to have 1 HP more than me. |

haha at first i wasnt mad that the Genesis would have 1 more HP, but now its kind of getting at me, they definitely did that on purpose haha. Im sure the weight of the Hyundai will be in the same ballpark as the Z too. Whenever the Hyundai comes out we will see many threads comparing the two cars, it wont be a Z vs the Mustang-it will be Z vs the Genesis.......

I think the Z will be a bit lighter though and still have a better quality interior. From the pic in the article, the Z definitely wins in the looks category as well. I think the Z has a better chance in a comparo with the Gen coupe than the Mustang GT. The Z and the Genesis are a lot more similar too. IMO the Genesis is kind of trying to be a combination of a G37 and a 370Z, and it seems like it will be working well with the new HP bump. The HP was definitely targeted at the Z. Hyundai is aiming at us the way that Nissan is aiming at the Cayman. We know the other is better, so we just use the cost excuse However, the difference between the cost of the Genesis and the Z is much smaller than that between the Z and the Cayman S. |

[QUOTE=ImportConvert;975096]GT-R isn't a true sports car, either, I guess.
"True sports car." Some people just hear fanboy chatter and repeat it. The Z is a traditional sports car. Gran turismo sports cars, are just as much sports cars as the traditional 2 seaters. There are cases where the GT sports car out-handles out-maneuvers and out performs traditional sports cars. And its not just the porsche 911 either... as you stated with the GT-R. Not many so called sports cars can touch it. Lol Back to topic. All the 370z needs is a TT setup. Let the TT start right under 40k and offer around 420hp/360lb tq. Going to a v8 will change driving characteristics too much and make the car lose some handling capability. To maintain handling, Nissan would have to redesign the whole car. I honestly want more power in this same exact platform. Besides forced induction will keep it light and at under 3300lbs, the fatter cars will have more comp on its hands. I think that the Z might have to slightly lower its msrp back to 2009 numbers on the non aspirated Z if it came out with the FI, Z. The mustang did it on the GT coupes. I think that will help boost sales for the Z as I know it will do for the mustang. The concept of the rare car is kinda kool but, I rather the Z just win the performance war than cancel out. |

333 Hyundai hp doesn't feel like 333 actual horsepower. Some cars are under estimated, in Hyundai's case I think they are overestimating to draw more young consumers.

New 5.0 Mustang GT's are rated at 412 bhp and dyno-ing at 395 whp! And they have Getrag tranny's stock. On the other end, I remember the horrific over-estimation that was the Mazda RX-8. There was such a huge discrepency between advertised bhp and power to the wheels that they actually issued customers rebates.

The 370Z is rated at 332 bhp, but puts out around 270-280 whp. I don't really know much about cars and normal drivetrain losses, but that seems like a lot compared to the figures for the mustang 5.0 that BLM gave.
