Just found this today, sorry if this has already been posted but i want able to find anything when i searched for it. Basically lotus is completely redesigning their cars. This is the Elise which is going to be the least expensive of their line up.

The attached pictures are the new cars
Lotus Elan
Lotus Elise
Lotus Esprit

beside it being the least expensive, the elise is the only lotus in the line up to have a manual transmission.

That is gorgeous!

If Elise is going to be 45k I would actually consider trading my Z in for it. Better mpg and performance, might be worth the extra 15k.

Looks like a baby Lambo

JACKPAC 02-20-2011 07:59 AM

Very lambo from the front and has the rear arches similar to a 458 italia. I like.

Sweet looking cars. Unfortunately you will still have to trade comfort and practicality for performance. If they add all the standard creature comfort, they loose their edge. If they keep it Spartan, they loose a big segment of non enthusiast. In the end its all about making money. I hope they find a good balance.

that's probably the elan you are talking about (the car in yellow-orange) because i don't see the resemblance.

If they got rid of that sheitty toyo engine I'll get one.. If it wasn't for that celica engine I'd have one today. Hopefully the wised up and are putting a K20 in there.

I thought there was that option? I used to have a civic si, and I remember on that forum there was an article about an elise that had a k20a with a supercharger.

oleg 02-21-2011 01:17 AM

Ya Ive seen many owners swapping out for the k20. Makes it a lot quicker. But these new once should have something better I'm guessing since they got heavier and faster. The Elan and Esprit should be hitting around 190mph so I'm doubting they will be ruining the celica or k20 on those.

Celica gt-s 2zzge supercharged

Built, that motor can handle plenty of power... my buddy has a twincharged Lotus with the 2ZZ putting down over 500 whp.

The C-60 trans is what turned out to be the weak link, and he had to go for a custom fitted MR2 trans.

I thought the 2ZZ_GE engine was a great engine platform... just my opinion.,

That is the last gen Celica S engine, right?

Yup. SCC magazine once referred to it as being not unlike a hyena on crack :icon17:

Fun, peaky, high strung motor. Fragile ring lands over 250 whp, but for the time, a pretty high tech engine with decent potential, and max revs approaching 9K on the stock valvetrain (thanks to Yamaha).

That said, the K20 can be tuned and built to make more power more easily, but the 2ZZ is still a hell of a fun little engine.

Dropping one of those in a last gen MR2 makes for one fun little car.

Current Internet price on a 2010 Elise is $53k. Must start saving!

oleg 02-25-2011 11:04 PM

I don't think thats too bad of a price considering the performance specs that I found for it. I would like to know though if you would be able to put the Elan body kit on it as it kinda looks meaner to me.

ProfessorDave 02-26-2011 07:38 AM

I think the Elan can be had for only about 10k more, although the list price is much more than that.

ProfessorDave 02-26-2011 07:41 AM

Oops! I was looking at the price of the Evora (also very nice looking!).
