1992 Skyline GTR
Hey peeps, got a quick question for you. My friend (more of an acquaintance) is moving to japan, and he wants to get rid of his skyline quickly. It's a 1992 GTR, with 90k KMs on it. Only problems are that an injector is leaking and his OS geiken clutch is slipping. It's not heavily modded, just hks CAI, Tomei strut bar, mafs from a 300zx, new rad, advan Avs 17", and samco hoses.
He's asking me for $6000 for it. What do you guys think? |

Can I go there and buy it instead?

'92s were the last year of the R32s. I didn't like them as much as the R33 and my favorite the R34s. I think a lot of people would want it just because it's a skyline. They are rare hear in the US. If you really are interested in it take it to someone to look at it and see how much it would cost to fix it.
On a different subject if your friend is military; $6000 will buy him a Supra or nice quality R33 GTST in japan. |

Heres something else you need to ask. This wasn't ever sold as a US spec car.
Was it converted legally to US specs? Where was it converted? When i was in japan i looked into bringing on over and at that time the only company that did this conversion was motorex which is no longer in buisness due to illegeal dealings. How will you register it? Meaning can you register it as a regular car or does it need some sort of special category that will limit your use of it? Last thing you want to do is get stuck with a car that is basically illegal to drive. |
$6K is a good deal for this car given the rarity especially if it is the 6-cylinder. Just plan on putting a couple of grand into it to get it running in top shape again.

Ok. Then disregard my statements and make sure its still legal the register the car in Canada.

Yeah, it is plated in Canada already, so the conversion is not an issue. As for the injectors, one of my friends has a set of stock GTR injectors he would give me, so all I'm left with is the clutch which would have to be repaired or replaced. I'll go by and run a compression test before anything, but from the pics he sent me it looks very clean. Specially the engine bay, which I find rare with these cars.

Bottom-line if you think it's a good price and your willing to except the upkeep. It's your money. Like I said before I like the R33 and R34. Another thing to make sure is that it's a true AWD GTR and not a GTST with a body kit.

6k is a incredible deal for a true '92 GTR. Be careful lots of GTS's in Canada disguiesed as GTR's.
