I'm convinced..

The Japanese do automobiles better than anyone else. I'm not surprised the big three are in the trouble they're in. After all this time they took the easy way out and built cars for profit instead of for the consumer, and guess who's hurting now? I mean, I saw this day coming and I know a lot of people at the Detroit big three saw it too. The Japanese on the other hand are well guarded against this economic tsunami that's so badly damaged our domestic automakers, and while I think they're fully responsible for the predicament they're in I hope for the sake of the industry and our country they receive the aid they need and pull through. However, you can kiss cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and all the other fun stuff good bye, because the government (especially under Obama's watch) is going to make sure every last penny of that loan is well spent, and they'll make laws (got CAFE??) just to keep em' in check. The Japanese (and Europeans) will continue to improve on existing and new concepts all the while making sure everyone has what they need and WANT, and that means cars like the Z will be around for some time for us to enjoy.

Does anyone know if CAFE applies to imports? Haven't read up on it yet.

All the automakers that sell cars in the U.S. Thing is the Japanese and Europeans are use to doing this because they have more global market penetration in international economies where gas prices are much much higher than they are here. GM and Ford have this same global reach, they just haven't taken advantage of it. Go figure.
