Fuel Efficient DD

Thinking about getting a eco box for a daily driver. I have a truck which comes in handy but fuel effiecient it is not. The Juke is growing on me, have to see it in person and drive it. The other choice mitsubishi outlander sport. Both of these are a little more versatile than say a sedan, chevy cruze, mitsu lancer, all around the same price $20k or so. Anyone know anything about these or something else that is yet to come and that I should wait for? :driving:

Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav4
Good on gas + AWD + fits a lot of people + trunk space + cheap

daisuke149 01-13-2011 10:55 PM

I got a versa.

more efficient than the above mentioned stuff, but stilla ctually a fun car

its so light and short.

My friend just got a hyundai elantra and for it's price he got amazing interior!
He got the 2011 model also.
I think you should take a look at that.

the most efficient one has to be a prius, right?
but they don't come with a manual transmission and are too common where i live.

Honda Fit Sport

Nismoracer 01-14-2011 11:29 AM

Wow the new 2011 elantra is nice. This might be the next DD. under $20k 40mpg highway. A genesis is $40k+??? didn't think they made that expensive of a car. Hyundai and Kia steppin their game up. It won't be long until they are Honda Toyota status.

Check out the Hyundai Veloster Hatchback. It's coming out in spring. It's a three door car for about $17K with 138hp and 40mpg on the highway. You can also upgrade it to a dual clutch transmission.

I bought my wife a 2010 Rav4. Get's good gas mileage, rides nice, and has plenty of space for everything we need.

Saw videos on this. Looks kinda cool. Don't know why they only put a 3rd door on the passenger side and not on both. They are going to quickly realize to put it on both sides. The saturns started like this with only on one side. Only 2500 lbs or something like that. Must be peppy.

These are all great little cars. wondering if I should go outlander sport or juke for a little more versatility or a hatchback. But i gotta say the hyundai elantra is on top of the list so far.

dont do the elantra. ive had the displeasure of driving that and the kia spectra in toronto (rental). they both sucked. they are nowhere near the level of the Honda Fit. find a used one.

Symmetry not included. Looks neat as long as you don't open the doors. ;)

The new 2011 elantra? wow the dealers in my area don't even have them yet. They look nice. But I kinda want a juke, i know it looks a little funky but from the sound of things it's a performer.

laze1 01-15-2011 08:38 AM

BTW: I'm selling my 2010 Fit Sport Auto w/NAVI & VSA, White w/Black cloth interior, 15K miles

In the Atlanta area, PM if interested

not sure what year the one i rented but it wasn't a 2011. honestly it was pretty terrible at expressway speed. i thought the car was going to either get blown off the road or it would fall apart piece by piece.

ive seen 2 jukes in my area and they do look werd but cool in a way. it's hard to explain. it's a cool werd (MINI) not a donkey werd (kia soul) look.

Nismoracer 01-28-2011 01:36 PM

Test drove the new elantra. Nice looking car but very dull. It gets 40mpg on the highway. With gas going up this may be a good purchase but it's a sedan. Would like a little more versatility. When are they going to make pick up trucks more fuel efficient. Best truck mpg is 20mpg on the highway and that's probably doing the speed limit and driving like miss daisy. Bummer.....

mick 01-28-2011 02:03 PM

yeah. actually, your choice for a dd is more important than for your weekend sports car because it's the car that you will spend most of your time driving. if you made a bad choice, you will be stuck.
