Opinions needed!

Ok so the time has come.. i am now ready to tint my BMW. but i am not sure what % to get. i was told 20% is g-h-e-t-t-o but im afraid 40 would be light but not sure about 30? its white (hence the sig pic) but let me know what you think. thanx

BurntGauge 03-28-2009 04:12 PM

I dunno who told you 20% is ghetto. I have 15% b/c in Florida it's necessary. It's HOT!

Sunsational04 03-28-2009 04:14 PM

this guy AK370Z...

ChrisSlicks 03-28-2009 06:58 PM

20 is ghetto, and could get you in trouble if you drive in NY. I would go with 30 or 35, unless I lived in Florida in which case I would go with the 20 and deal with the ghetto look.

BanningZ 03-28-2009 07:10 PM

Isn't 30% pretty much the standard now?

CrownR426 03-30-2009 09:44 PM

Wait what's the legal tint % in nj?!
I thought it was 30% or something.
I'd do 30 and make the back 20! :D

I love dark dark dark. My rear window is double limo tinted.

CrownR426 03-30-2009 09:52 PM

Can't you make your rear window to whatever you like?
I think I heard that only front window/seat and passeneger had to be like 30%.
And that you can do w/e you want to the back and rear window.

frost 03-30-2009 09:56 PM

I've had limo on my side windows for years, never gotten in trouble yet. ::knock on wood for jinxing myself::
But yeah, you dont even have to have back windows obviously. my rear window has tint flames.

CrownR426 03-30-2009 10:01 PM

lol!
No they probably won't say much to you since your older than I am.
Cops would give me a ticket in a heartbeat...

frost 03-30-2009 10:01 PM

Geeze, way to make a guy in his 20s feel old, lol.

AK370Z 03-31-2009 12:14 AM

with your white car, I would do 30%.

Here's a little link I found that details the tinting laws in all states. It says NJ doesn't allow any tinting on the front side windows. Installers will put whatever you ask for, but the cops might think differently about your choice. I live in AZ so if I get pulled over for my tint being too dark (which it legally is...:stirthepot:) I get a 30-day notice (Fix-it Ticket) to get it squared away. You didn't mention which windows you are planning to tint, but you might wanna ask Johnny Law (or someone in the know) before you go to the expense of doing the front windows.

Good Luck and post some pics when you get'r done!
