If that picture is true (s2k v FT86) then the back seat is worthless and should just be removed.

It also means this thing would haul with 300 ponies.

wow if this thing really is this small and powerful, the Z might have some serious competition

AlphaSnacks 01-05-2011 02:22 PM

Plus it's turbo...the tuning potential for this thing will be immense for next to nothing in dollars. :O

kenchan 01-05-2011 02:43 PM

ok, now it's finally starting to sound interesting to me. :yum:

mid-$20K is no issue. hell, release a TRD version for $30K. with the rear seats i would consider replacing my aging G35C. :D

I would trade my z in for this if it turns out good.

Depends for me. I'm a big fatarse. I can't fit in a Lotus Elise. I am uncomfortable in Miatas and S2K's. So, if it's small inside, I'm boned.

I guess the only choice for a light sports car these days is a Lotus Elise, or maybe a stripped Boxer. Oops, I forgot the Miata, though I wonder how many members of this forum would go that route. I would. My priorities will always be lightness and handling, if the alternative is a heavier car with more power.

/\ agreed.

don't safety requirements get bumped up again in '12? This car will weigh between 3100 and 3300 lbs I bet. Performance will maybe match our Z's stock, but the attraction is the modability of that turbo motor vs. our n/a VQ imo.

PapoZalsa 01-05-2011 09:46 PM

Is a Toyota, so I would consider it, since by 2013 the Z is going to be 4 yrs old with no warranty.

I think the Z is small enough for me. Not sure I would pick this up. I would rather stay with an icon in Japan and the US.

Can't wait to see this end product though. I bet most Americans will be unable to fit in it. Also, at that price, something's got to give.... With the Z people say it was NVH, I wonder what it will be with this.

I don't know... if this car had the STI engine and cost 30-35k I would trust it more. Also, it is suppose to be under the Scion brand. Something seems off to me...

All that said, I would not be surprised to see the Z go down the turbo 4 route like the next BMW 1M coupe will do. Lightweight, high-revving turbo 4; that or price will go into the 40s for the next Z.

GZ3 01-06-2011 03:58 PM

as good as this sounds, i would never trade my Z in for this, just see it as formidable competition...get of my Z?? hell no! the Z is an Icon with Heritage...if i didnt do it for the 5.0, sure as hell wont do it for this thing

That's pretty sick for a turbo rwd costing about 25,000!
GJ Toyota!
Wish Mitsubishi and Subbie teamed up for a GTR Killer under 80,000
