I have several friends that track Z06's, some of them very hard. The stock Z06 cooler is adequate if you don't push the car that hard, but if you beat on it you will need an after-market setup to keep the temps down. The stock brakes are acceptable, although the rotors and pads are crap and should be thrown away for track duty. The stock brake ducts dump air behind the wheel but that's about it, there are kits to replace with proper brake ducts into the hub area. The big problem with the Z06 is if you actually hit anything, the frame is aluminum and the tub is carbon fiber. A friend backed one into the wall on track a few months ago, and what we thought was going to be a few thousand to fix ended up being a write off.

I was WAY up in the air about this same exact issue. I found a used 2010 Z06 for 60K, and was all about it.
But, their are 6 C6 Z06's in my parking lot at work alone. Their is only one White NISMO. in Town, Vettes, Camaros, and Mustangs are Everywhere. but there is only one white NISMO... The Z is more Exotic. we will never be faster than a Z06 with a little work done to it, but I wanted a Jap car that would maybe hold some value and be fun to mod. I think a GTM stg 2 SC will give the Z06 a run for it's money. I am planning to find out. and If you want to get a bad *** car don't stop at a Z06, go to a CTS-V!! Nuff said! |

Just about any track driven car is going to have the same issues, but there are a lot more parts available for the Corvette than for the 370.

Nothing wrong with being over 50, and I am sure you guys are cool, never said you're not. I will be that age someday as well. But just saying, I'm not ready for that just yet. No vette for me yet (or ever)...

the z06 is a beast no doubt. over the years i've owned both cars. and both models have their good points and their not so good. just do your homework if you buy used. i'd rather buy one from some older guy if i could less chance
it's been kicked in the xxs........ with that said i do love my 370 but when it comes time to trade i'm going back to a vette.it's the only 2 seat sports car i would swap for. |

Neither the 370Z or the Z06 are "exotic", and neither is worth crap for holding resale value. Whatever it takes to run mid 11's@124 or so on a street tire with a half-decent driver is what it will take to give comp to a Z06 in stock form. As to the age comments I keep seeing, that is just because younger guys usually don't have the patience or the means to save up and buy a Z06 as often as they do cheaper cars like mustangs, camaros, and 350/70's. That's like calling a 1/2 million $$ home lame because only older people have them. No, you have it wrong. Only people who have money have them. I know plenty of younger guys in 'vettes. They just have rich families or good income. This is my only snag. I drove a few 370Z's, and played with a few 'vettes. I don't go much for NAV systems, so that doesn't bug me, but the over-all look of the 370Z's interior is much superior in my opinion. Quality, the Z's seats are better, and after that it's a wash for me. In the end, aftermarket seats are cheaper than TT systems and don't void a warranty, so if I ever tire of the seats in a Z06, I am in a much better place than needing a TT system to get my jollies.
