thinking of switching to an 06-07 Z06
im just not happy with the power and the S/C kits dont really look exciting and the TT kits are a little to much money so i think a new body style Z06 will solve the power problem and they dont have hot oil temps that cut you power and throttle response to a very noticable difference. i love the Z but ther is no torque in this car and for the price you are in used Z06 territory and thats pretty much a supercar. what do u think?

I looked at an 06 Z06 before I bought the Z. Just make sure you do your research. I know they have issues with the interior (mostly the seat leather quality) and the LS7 had number mechanical issues. Just like every other car the Z06 has it's own set of issues. It's a beast though.

A later run Z06 should do the trick. As of like 2008 or so they improved the material quality and obviously worked all the kinks out.

an 08 may be out of my price range so ill need to have an 06-07 looked over before i get it. i may just change out the seats since i dont really like them at all anyway. so why did you get the Z over the Z06?

I didn't consider the Z06 when I bought my Z. I looked at the regular C6s but at that time I liked the Z more.

If i remember correctly, someone on this board mentioned that a Z06 had massive engine failure at a race track because he was consistently over 300 degrees on the oil temps. So, I wouldn't rule out the oil over heating issue.

The price was right on point with what I wanted to pay but I had to drive 1.5 hours to go get it. Once I got there the Z06 was not in the condition I wanted. It had some front end damage that someone did a half-a$$ job fixing. I kept looking for one for about another 2-3 months. Never found one in the price range and condition I wanted so I started looking at new cars. I almost bought a 2010 GS but my wife liked the Z better so it won. Plus it was $15K cheaper.

First off, let me state that an 06/07 Z06 would blow the doors off my Z. But.... that being said, I was also considering a used Z06 the same time I was looking at my Z. After much deliberation, I determined that though it was faster, I didn't like the interior look and feel (quality). The seats also had the look and feel of typical GM... cracking leather (already), etc. I also didn't like the fact that all vette's pretty much look the same, and it's almost always old men over 50 driving it. I didn't want to be in that category. Again, it all comes down to personal choice, but pure speed and torque wasn't enough to sway me.

I didn't consider Z06 trim because I could not afford it (I own a base Z). But when I looked, it was between a 2000 Porsche 911, a 2005 Corvette, and a 2010 Z. After much deliberation, I primarily made my choice because I wanted an all-new car, with all-new tech and 0-yr-old parts, and no possible "thrashed past".
Not saying that one should follow the same thought process. That's simply how I arrived at my decision. I still respect all 3 cars, but I <3 my Zeeeeeeeeeeee. |

Well, if you buy from a GM dealership you only need to give them 16.6% of the asking price. You know that whole, "hey look, this $5 billion pays back your $30 billion in full! Thanks, America!" deal.
