I wanted a ZO6 so bad but when the Z came around the styling looked so great. I still think about a ZO6 but I don't want to get rid of the Z.

I do have my eye on a low mile used 2008 M3. At least with that car I can work on but the cost of the parts come into play. Grr... :D

Z06's are way simpler and cheaper to maintain and more reliable (per consumer reports) than the M3.

A straight dino oil change was $135+. He changed it at his cost with 8k miles since he couldn't wait until 15k miles for the "free" one. He was "surprised" it was as black as it was; "it's a new engine!". ;)

Snow chains for the rear tires cost $500. He's going Autozone now, LOL. :icon14:

An oil-change on a newer Z06 is around $200. It has almost 11 quarts of oil, or if you buy an older one, around 8, I belive. 8 quarts of synthetic + filter + 1/2 hour labor, $125-200-ish is the going rate.

i would like to know how much power you are putting to the ground as well. i had a TT 350z with a built motor with 525whp and nearly 8k rpm redline. i could still barely keep up with a stock Z06 due to their gearing i think. im not to sure but i had more whp then him and was not but 150-200 lbs more in weight so why would i not pull on him? a TT kit is more then i would like to spend on this car and not have a warranty. the Z06 is going to be as fast if not faster then a TT 370Z and still have a warranty. you add 2k in mods and i dont think a TT 370Z will touch a Z06. but i do love how fun the 370 is to drive and some more power would add to this and i do agree about the **** *** interior of the Vette. maybe i could wait another year or 2 and get a first year model GTR.

Because peak horsepower doesn't mean a darn thing. It's power under the curve. That 427 makes a lot of it.

Sure is... I looked at those. The M3 would have free maintenance however for 4 years.

doubling your oil capacity is a great way to keep oil temps down ......hint hint, Nissan :D

kevin8086 12-24-2010 12:21 PM

this is one of the dyno sheets from my 350Z on 14lbs i think. 18lbs made 530whp or so.

Unless I am misunderstanding, a 2008 M3 would not. Otherwise, yes it would. However, If OP kept it for longer, it would possibly fail hard, financially.

You would lose less money selling the Z and buying a Z06 and then selling it for a Z with an SC already on it. That way the OTHER guy can lose his arse on mods, and you can just flip the Z even if you get a good deal and sell in a few months, minus the TTL.

Buy an SC and you are going to be out around 50% of the part/install cost when you flip the car. Also, harder to sell modded than stock vehicles.

I was wrong on cost. I over-estimated a bit (because I like expensive oil and filters, apparently these guys just dump mobil 1 in there. Heck, it works and GM warranties it, why not?) Here is a thread about 'vette and Z06 ownership cost:
