Good beater for less than $2000

Can anyone recommend a good beater for under $2000? I'm trying to get one before we get a really bad snowfall here. I have a few models in mind, but would like your input as well.

Thanks

A Neon. And with the $1500 you have left buy some toys for the Z

Well you'll probably want FWD or AWD. I'm a Honda man myself but a Toyota or Nissan wouldn't be bad either. Depends on what size you want.

Small: Civic, Corolla, Stanza, Altima
Medium: Accord, Camry, Altima, Maxima

I wouldn't go large just because more weight is more wreckage in the snow.

EG or EK civic, maybe an old truck

Toyota is reliable as a brick. Hard to go wrong if you do even a cursory exam for neglect. Boring, but reliable.

Honda Civic hatchack 92-2000 is the best daily ever. It's great on gas, has lots of space, cheap to fix and you can put anything in it.

I've had plywood, engines, wheels, or like 6 people and all kinds of crap in my old one. Also brought my 55" LCD TV home in it and closed the hatch.

Worlds most practical car IMO.

i'm thinking of getting a 99 grand cherokee for next winter, you can find them for 2.5-3k right now. prolly 2k by next year.

i was about to say 240sx but since you want a car that doesnt drift everywhere in the snow you will probably be better off with a civic.

Personally i think 4wd is fine for starting from a stop but I'm not down with that high center of gravity in the snow.

try and find a grannys old accord or camry. trust me! low mileage, usually decently maintained, and they unload them for cheap without realizing what they could really go for.

eagle TSI

I'd go with an Accord. 90-93's are easy to find, cheap, and have an abundance of replacement parts at junkyards. About 3 yrs ago I bought a perfectly running coupe with a dent in the rear quater panel for 850 bucks. Zero issues until someone hit me and totaled it. Plus you get the long lasting honda motor without the thief attention from a Civic/Integra.

If you really need to haul things, they made a wagon version from 91-93.

Im a little biased though :D
