Yet Another Corvette Thread.
Hey guys, I know this must be getting very repetitvie and annoying seeing all these other threads about different cars but this one is a little different.
After going back and forth between the corvette forum and here, reading, searching, and asking questions. I've come to the conclusion that a used corvette is the better buy in my situation. I hate to say it because I really like the 370z. From when it was just an idea till this date. At the same time though, I always loved the corvette since my brother had 3 C5 vettes.. I just never realized they could be had at this killer price so I never looked into it. Here's what I concluded: You can get an LS3 vette (LOW mileage) for around the same price as a brand new Z. LS2 for less than a 370z Vette is on another level. Its faster, handles just as well and if not better with the Z51 package. Looks very very sexy. The corvette doesn't seem as problematic, I've read that its a very reliable car where there has been rarely any major maintenance needed, just oil changes. The car responds very well to mods no matter which trim you get (LS2, LS3, or LS7 but thats a higher priced Z06). I love both cars very much.. Only advantage I see with the Z is rarity on the streets.. Oh, and that Syncro Rev Match.. Thats just effin cool. Unless Nissan comes out with something drastic for the 2012 Z like a "rev up" of some sort, I will be sold on the corvette. Can anyone give me some better reasons as to why I should stick to the Z? I do race with friends at the drag strip, we do go to twisties and I do participate in drift events with my G. |
No just get the vette and good bye! You will not be missed. :D

I too have been looking at used Vettes but honestly, if it's not a z06 then I don't want it. I'd rather have a new car that wasn't ragged on. I'd also want certain options and colors and finding the right used Corvette with the right combination at the right price is almost impossible.
Shouldn't this go in the other car section? |
Get the vette, since your set on it, and good luck.
I prefer the rarity than the common vette. imo |
Feel free to move where appropriate, sorry about that.
Thanks for the comments and that avatar is sick LOL. |

Vettes are old looking.
A Vette looks like a toy. The design has run it's course.

Having the same hard choice myself right now. I recently had a 09 370z touring sport manual until it was recently totaled. Now I'm looking to replace it. Having a hell of a time finding the exact color and combination of 370z I want and rather than ordering one and having to wait I'm exploring other options. Recently went a looked at an 08 Vette with low miles which would end up being 5-7k cheaper than getting another Z.
I'll say this, the Z's interior quality is far better than the Vette. Looks are subjective but most here would agree the Z is better. Cornering, the Z is far more precise and agile but the Vette seemed to stay a little more flat through the corners. Having in the past both auto-x my Z and a Vette the Z is the more natural car in the corners. That being said the Vette's LS3 was just awesome and the shifts of the tranny were just like butter; far better than the 370z. Now it's just a choice of a used faster but more commonly seen car vs. a slower, more unique, new car that I'll have to wait 3mo for. |
It's a nice car, what ever makes you happy.

I am still looking at both cars but a vette is far better for the money. I hope there are big changes for the 2012 Z |
