OK I'll make you feel better. Nearly 6 seconds faster than 370Z Nismo around Laguna Seca. Barf!

I know I don't post here a lot but I do read most of the threads. Owning a GT, I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents...

I recently sold my SRT8 Challenger for a 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 instead of a 370z, which is what I initially was going to purchase.

The Mustang is fast, loud and truly a LOT of fun. The engine is really the star of the show with the GT. It will "out do" the Z car really anyway you look at it.

That being said: In 1500 miles the car has spent more days at the dealer than my garage. There's an undiagnosed creaking/groaning from my suspension that I've tried 4 times at 2 different dealerships to fix and have been brushed aside, lied to and had my car rack up mysterious miles (approx 40) after being left overnight at the dealer. Also, my transmission (auto not manual) has a grinding when putting the car into Reverse and Neutral.

I think the Mustang is one hell of a car and Ford really has a monster on their hands, but so far I've been pretty dissatisfied with the Ford brand/personnel I've dealt with. And I really hope I'll be able to sell the car to a buddy soon.

Both are great cars and it's a great time...maybe the last great time, to be a car enthusiast. Buy what you love, drive what you love and show everyone else respect - give them the room to do the same.

Judging by this forum, they can't even be on the street without crashing.

everybody i know with a 5.0L has had zero problems. i know it looks bad, but some times there is problems with cars. even 370z have had problems like this where people bought one and it was in the shop the 2 days later.

Yikes, that sucks dude! I certainly hope you are taken care of and can move onto something you're more satisfied with.

Oh, and I put your last line in bold because those are some words we all can live by. Some people here certainly need think about them, that's for sure.

Ironically, OP is selling the car to a "buddy" while talking about respecting others. I LOL'ed.

This is what I'm thinking, too. Because I haven't heard too many new Stang owners complain about those issues.

Curious what kind of gas mileage do Mustangs get on track? With fuel prices going up poor fuel economy can add up. I know they are decent if you stay off the throttle but once your on throttle they must suck copius amounts of dead dino juice?

Also being sooo much heavier they must eat brake pads and tires like crazy.

I was surprised at how good my tire wear has been on track with the 370Z. I had a set of A6 Hoosiers with 6 autocrosses and did full day of 20 minute sessions on same tires and they still have a ton of tread. I suspect a Mustang wouldnt be so kind to soft tire like that?

So far with 1500 miles I see about 17.6 mpg. Mostly city driving in congested areas of Baton Rouge. Not terrible for a v8 I guess.

On track though that's a pretty significant weight difference. The 5.0 is going to be closer in terms of tire, brake, and fuel consumption to the M3 than it would be to the Z.

Of course all are going to pale in comparison to the mighty Miata. If only every car was that cheap to operate.
