Absolutely correct! If they had not put their foot in their mouth advertising how far it would go FIRST, then maybe we could have gotten a better looking car and 5 miles less per charge.

well you have to figure volt will be 40000 so the caddy is gonna get a sh*t load of gadgets etc to justify the 60000 for the eflex.

Chrysler will die! GM I'd say is 60/40! Ford with the Mustang and F-Series, trucks, plus their "cop car" will make it through and survive!

I would have been willing to spend $40k on the original volt, but 40K is steep for an ugly car. ;]

That's sounds right... Although, I'd say they're closer to the 40% chance of survival than the 60%

The only way I forsee this happening is through a forced merger after bankruptcy by the govt if not I dont think GM will do it! They want to get smaller and leaner not bigger.

I think that would be suicide for GM.

I didn't think the volt was ugly. But 40K is still steep for that car. We're not talking terribly expensive battery packs here... 40 or 60 miles on Lithium Ions doesn't cost as much as everyone's been b!tching about. Thunder Sky sells them at about $17K for 33KwH. (And those are old prices too) So that'd be about 180-200 miles depending on how efficient the car is. So if you factor in the prices that GM is getting the batteries at, they're likely spending less than 3K per car for the batteries. 5K for the motor/controller, and 1K for the ICE engine. There's no transmission. They're probably spending 13K total for the entire car including labor.

40K is a lot to ask in this economy for a car that only cost them 13K. If they were smart, they'd put the car's MSRP at around 28K.

Why do they all have to have so much chrome? It's a freaking eye sore... especially the window trim. I hate it.

Because America let "bling" become a popular word?
