No more Honda s2000

Does it even matter or is it a sign of the times. if it can happen to the s2000
could it happen to the Z? Honda Cancels 2010 S2000 - U.S. News Rankings and Reviews

read that date...

With the Si as Honda's most 'sporty' car, things are looking pretty sad. Glad I got my RSX-S in the last year. The Si spy shots of the Si still leave much to be inspired. I want a K24 in there, maybe even boost (see the RDX?)

I have high hopes for the FT-86 and Subbies version with a turbo and maybe even AWD (for Chicago winters), otherwise I'll have a Z soon as no other auto maker seems to care about enthusiasts anymore b/c they make more monies sharing platforms of mass produced 'grocery getters.'

... Uh. Thanks for the old news. The Honda S2000 was cancelled as of 2009. In fact, even Honda's Type-R program has been cancelled in both the European and Japanese markets. At this rate, the current generation Civic Si (FG2/FA5) will be the last of its kind with vehicles such as the new CR-Z being its replacement.

Think of it as a change in the times. You know there is something wrong when Top Secret will make a turbo kit for the hybrid CR-Z (out for barely a few months) but fails to produce anything for the Civic Type-R (out since 2007).

That's ultimately what led me to this forum. I traded in my 07 Civic Si for an 09 370z. Figured I'd at least grab a sports car before they start dying off. I think the 90's were the best for sports cars, at least of the Japanese variety.

Sorry didn't know it was that old of a story. But i don't follow Honda's anyway
i know they make dependable cars though. Not bad lawn mowers either.

My point was if it can happen to the s2000 for lack of interest or sales.
It could happen to the Z also.Which it already has once before.

All about the sales

I agree that most manufacturers are going w/ the platform sharing stategy. It's cost effective and the majority of the buying public doesn't seem to care as long as it looks good, is reasonably priced and has decent fuel economy. One thing the Z has going for it is that it uses a platform shared w/ other Nissans (Infiniti's G37, FX35 and 50) to spread the cost out. This platform sharing also works against the car in increased weight (components have to be strong enough for all) and decreased performance because of this. We all vote w/ our dollars. I did and most on this forum did as well. That is what will help insure the viablility and profit for Nissan. They will continue to produce the car as long as they can turn a profit. It's always about the money.

lol at zombie article....

It is still sad though. There's very little market, and very little opportunity for profit in the sports car market right now.

It's really a shame. I think the s2k was probably one of the best cars ever made. I know I'd be rolling in a 2010 s2k over a Z...

Sadly Honda (no more NSX, S2000) and Toyota (no more MR-2 or Supra) have been in the same boring boat for a while.

Though Toyota is showing a little life with the LF-A and hints of a new MR-2.

same situation as me, man. in fact, 'm positive i saw you over on 8th heh.

i do miss the fg2 i traded in for my 370. if i could afford it, i would definitely have kept it as a dd. such a fun car, given its mpg and cost and reliability.

cjof2003 09-20-2010 09:33 PM

This is part of the reason i'm here while looking to replace my RSX-S.

Granted ford is also really stepping up, and starting to peak my interest. If only I could afford a 2011 BOSS 302! :yum:

bigaudiofanat 09-20-2010 11:57 PM

Ya old news, read about this the beginning of last year. They are replacing it with the crz or so some say and rumor that there is going to be something else coming out.

kenchan 09-21-2010 10:36 AM
