My "New" '08 Mitsubishi Evo X GSR with PICS!!!
Hey guys,
After totaling my Z I went out and bought this car. I couldn't see myself getting another Z right now (although I would like to in the future), so I wanted to get a car that would be comparable in performance and price. The car came with 19K on the clock, and has only a few aftermarket pieces (TurboXS turboback exhaust, shift knob, AP blowoff valve, AP CAI, optional OEM "Lancer Evolution" emergency brake, and "Recaro" rear window sticker). Right now, the only mods I have planned are to change all of the interior lights to white LEDs, change the fog and headlights to 6000K HIDs, swap the plastic turbo hoses for solid aluminum hoses, swap the rubber radiator/intercooler hoses for blue silicone hoses, add a set of BC BR coilovers, and some extra gauges (boost, A/F ratio, oil pressure or oil temp). http://www.ami-customs.com/index.php...ml=1&Itemid=13 Let me know if I should use oil pressure or oil temp gauge and let me know if you have any other mod suggestions. Enjoy the pics!

Congrats. Test drove a 2010 when my girlfriend was looking for her next car. She opted for the Camaro SS instead (liked the V8 sound and pull better). Have to say I was really impressed with the EVO. I actually scared the hell out the sales guy while testing it's grip.
To the previous poster, in my eyes the 370z is a better choice. Like the overall reliability of the Z over the EVO and the driving characteristics. Also the interior seems better than the EVO. That being said I still enjoyed the EVO and believe it has other things to offer that the Z doesn't. It's more about personal feel between the two cars. One thing is for sure, I sure missed the boost. Prior to my Z I had a stage 1 WRX and I still miss the turbo. |

Thanks guys for your comments. I like the interior of the Z a bit better than the EVO's and the styling of the Z is second to none. I also like that the Z is a V6 and comes with a 6-speed. However, I like that the EVO comes turbo from the factory, is all-wheel drive, has Brembo brakes, comes with Racaro racing seats, can come with an optional dual clutch tranny, has projector headlamps that can move vertically up or down with the flick of a switch, and is meant to be tuned all day long. And what sold me on the EVO was that the dealership threw in a 10-year/100K mile bumper-to bumper warranty at cost, which I can cancel at any time and get my money back if I don't use it.

Make sure you change your fuel pump relay to green or blue ones. Also with your mods make sure you are tuned properly and invest on some wideband and boostgauge. Other than that congrats and enjoy the car

^^Amen! And thanks everyone for the good wishes.
Since I don't have a lot of extra cash to spare, what mods do you guys think would be the best (balancing economics and hp gains)? I want to get a set of 3 gauges, but I don't want to spend $1K for the setup. And since I've never had a turbocharged car before, I don't know if it's worth it or not to spend money on such mods as boost controller/fuel injectors/intercooler/waste gate. Can anyone help me out?

Rule of thumb whenever you modify a FI car the first thing you should get is a wideband and a boostgauge, then you can start from there. You can try zeitronix. I myself run a AEM wideband and my cobb ap for my bostgauge and to datalog. If you really want to learn more about your car visit evoxforums and if your interested on converting to e-85 visit E-85 Army - Evo Empire Forum If you want to have an idea how much power you can make with what mods visit this Evo 10 - Gst Motorsports Tunes - Evo Empire Forum Bryan is kind enough to post his dyno graph with modifications listed. Like I said make sure you have a blue and green Fuel Pump relay a couple of people has already blown their motors because of a 5 dollar relay. |
